CHAPTER 4 Max sank an easy drop shot through the hoop and celebrated with a raucous howl of triumph. For the first time, he was in the lead. Seb caught the ball as it cleared the basket. He glanced at his watch and tossed the ball back to Max with a sigh. ‘Time to call it a day, kid.’ Still full of energy, Max dribbled the ball to the side of the outdoor court where they’d left their jumpers and pulled his over-sized hoodie over his head. ‘Same time next week or are you away again?’ he asked, as his face emerged through the neck opening. ‘Next week should be fine.’ They hadn’t been sent on a mission for a few weeks now, but usually they had about a week of lead time anyway. Too hot to put his own jumper on yet, Seb picked it up and tossed it over one shoulder as they wandered off
