CHAPTER 3 During a break between lectures, Emilia settled in the library, one of her favourite buildings on campus. The room was light and airy, and at the desk she’d chosen she had a great view outside where she could people-watch when her attention wandered from her study. With nothing especially pressing, she was taking the opportunity to catch up on her emails. It was strange having her friends scattered over the country and sometimes it was challenging to maintain regular contact with them all. She owed replies to both Stacey and Jess and was hoping to hear how Maddie was getting on with the guy she’d met in one of her tutorials who she’d boldly asked out for coffee.
