HIS TRUTH, BOOK SIXTEEN Nicole If I weren't at the office, sitting at my desk, I'd be certain Mark's call was part of a nightmare. I still have the phone pressed to my ear, even though there's only dead silence on the other end, and the world has a fuzzy, washed-out look like some flashback scene in a movie, darkness creeping in at the edges. And even though I very clearly remember waking up alone, taking a shower and being the first to arrive at the office, I'm still not quite sure I'm not actually dreaming as I listen to the silence.
