Chapter 10: Angry ReturnAfter days of seas that were never calm, Brenddel and his men finally made it back to the kingdom of the thirteen.
When they left Artoth, outside the gates of the canal they had buried their dead at sea. They came home now to a dark bay. Brenddel had sent word to Trunculin of all that happened, or at least most of it, in letters with faster merchant ships. The reports should have arrived at least a day before they did; yet, no one was here to meet them.
Brenddel had asked for enough coin so that the watership they hired could be paid. He left the men on the boat and went to the bay master, inquiring if anything had been left for him.
