Lindsey managed to get out of WLDY without cracking a giant grin, no less dancing a celebratory jig. He connected up with Rossellini and Weiner and they climbed into Rossellini’s Viper. “I guess you could have met Jeckler,” Lindsey told Gina, “but I figured him for a man-to-man, just-us-guys type.” “You got it right,” Weiner told him. “I should have told you yesterday, when he fired me, it was because of the format change—officially. You’d never guess that he made a pretty crude pass at me and I tried out my judo on the creep.” Gina snorted. “Did it work?” “Did Callas sing soprano?” Weiner peered out the Viper’s window, toward the lake. Lindsey asked if she had heard the weather forecast and she said that she had. He asked if she saw any sign of rain. She said, “No, but I smell it.”
