Chapter 1

The oceanic deep blue eyes stared at the empty side of the bed. This wasn't how the first morning of his wedding should be. He had to wake up safe and comfortable in his husbands' arms. Louis sat up on the bed and rubbed his eyes, which were partially swollen because he had cried himself to sleep. He glanced at the pillow, it didn't have the tear stains on it anymore. Then he looked around the room. Letting out a deep sigh when the memories of the previous night came rushing in. The wedding had been huge, it was a rich and lavish ceremony with huge chandeliers and a massive guest list, and not many had attended the wedding from Louis's side. People interacted with Louis and Harry all night but he could still remember the strained expression on Harry's face. None of them were happy to get married to each other because they hadn't even spoken before. Harry had faith in Anne's choice and for Louis, well he had no other option, his mother wanted him to be an idle son and support his family even though his entire childhood was filled with hatred and being discouraged. Never the less, even if the pretty boy didn't appreciate his beauty he stood up on his feet eventually and while he finished his graduation he picked up event managing and he had excelled in it. But unfortunately, it was not enough to suffice his families greed. Grateful or not he accepted the inevitability of the situation he signed up for. He wanted a new start away from all the hate and pain he had experienced. But that wasn't what he particularly got. The thought of last night getting over making him sad. He stripped himself naked and stepped into the shower, well the house was nothing less than a seven-star hotel. The fog condensed on the glass door separating the shower and the dry area. The hot pelting water brought some relief to Louis's thoughts; he was okay if they remained unanswered. He changed into a black full sleeve turtleneck T-shirt and denim jeans. The boy starring back at him from the mirror him had rosy lips and bright blue eyes; his wet hair fell perfectly on his forehead. Louis had never felt this pretty. It's over, Lou. The bad times are over. He tried smiling at himself. It was difficult at first. It had become a rare event when he was around people he knew. Especially when he was alone with himself, his thoughts had dominated his heart with sadness and he saw no end to it. But today was not that day. Adjusting his bangs he took a deep breath and smiled. It's going to be a lovely day, Lou. It's going to be a lovely one. Exploring the place was the first idea that came to his head. Harry's house was very big and took Louis a few rounds to figure the place out. The penthouse had six rooms and a very big living room with posh and expensive furniture, which connected, to the balcony with a garden and to the kitchen. He could sit in the garden and stare at the sky all day, he thought. Louis's stomach gurgled. He blushed and placed his hand on his stomach. He hadn't eaten anything post the reception party. Stepping out of the balcony he walked to the kitchen. Harry was nowhere to be seen. He had left as soon as he showed Louis his room, where Louis would live....alone. For now, one thing was more appealing than his handsome husband. The apple in the fruit basket that was placed on the marble island. He wiped it with his long sleeves that reached his palm midway. Even though the boy was a good 5'9'' his clothes made him feel tiny compared to Harry. Well, at least that's what he because of Harry's height. He took a bite of the juicy fruit and he instantly felt good. Midway he felt a stare drilling at the back of his skull causing him to turn. The green eyes met blue. Harry had never seen another human this splendiferous in his entire life. His husband was so small and so perfect. Instantly, he felt an attraction towards the young boy. "Hi." Louis tried to break the ice, "Was that your apple? I apologize. I was very hungry." When Harry didn't reply Louis felt silly. He stared at his palm to avoid the handsome man in front of him.  His voice was so beautiful. Harry didn't know why those words came to his head when he saw Louis. But he stopped himself. This wasn't what Harry styles did. He charmed people. He didn't observe their...beauty. But when the case was vice-versa it made him uncomfortable. The boy hadn't been here for twenty-four hours and he was carving his place in Harry's mind, his face invaded all of Harry's thoughts. Why is he apologizing for eating the stupid apple? "You can do whatever you want around here there is nothing to be sorry about." Harry didn't want to sound rude, but he did. Louis felt a sting from Harry's tone. "I know your upset about this marriage-" Louis started not knowing where the courage to speak came up? Avoiding, much eye contact he continued not so bold about the decision, "And we can't do anything about it. But I want to be a good husband too you and I-" Harry had a ton of questions and the fact that Louis was taking over his thoughts made him flustered. So he did what he was best at. The main door slam shut making Louis's head snaps upward, Harry was gone. Did he leave Louis alone on the first day of their marriage? Louis pursed his lips. Had he overdone it? He didn't want to eat anymore; he had lost his appetite with the way he was treated. Maybe people just won't stop hating him. __ "Harry?" "Uncle Harry?" the voices belonged to Gemma and Cole Harry's sister and her son. "He's not home." Louis yelled from the door halting his work to walk out of his room. "Louis!" she engulfed him into a hug before he could register it's Gemma. The entire styles family had been welcoming to Louis. Well, except Harry. He wouldn't even talk to Louis. "Hey, Gemma. How have you been?" his eyes landed on the seven-year-old boy "Hey buddy, how are you doing?" Louis offered him a high five. Cole thought his new uncle was really cool. He returned the high five. "How is the new house treating you?" she asked almost singing. "Where's Harry? " not giving Louis a chance to speak. "He left early this morning." disappointment laced Louis's voice. She furrowed her eyebrows. How could he? It was the first day of their marriage and Harry had no right to treat his husband this way. she knew Louis was a very genuine and kind person. And as far as she knew Harry he was not going to be nice to Louis any time soon. Heck! He might have not even spoken to Louis till now, she thought. Indeed she knew her brother well, but Louis didn't. Ever since Harry turned 19 he joined their father's agency and from then onward working had become his life and so had the flings. Gemma supported her parent's decision to get Harry married thinking it would change her brother's rude nature. Bu this was preposterous of Harry, Louis deserved a formal greeting.  She itched to slap her brother but looking out for Louis was more important. Louis was busy in some discussion with Cole about model cars. "Give it some time Louis. I know him. I'm sure when he gets to know you he will like you for who you are." she assured knowing her brother's behavior in and out. Louis had a sudden urge to vomit the entire truth to Gemma but it wasn't a very wise decision so he controlled himself. He gave her a reassuring smile. "Let's go shopping?" she cheered up, cutting the gloomy atmosphere. "With me? " Louis asked, he knew that she was just trying to make up to him, but she didn't have too. " Yes, you silly. Well Cole, Caleb, you and me." she placed her hands on her hips. "I shouldn't be interrupting your family time Gemma and besides I have a lot of work -" Gemma pulled him by his hand and intertwined her arm around Louis's, cutting his statement off. "What do you mean interrupting family time? Louis, you are family now. " Her words warmed his heart. He couldn't refuse. what she said meant a lot to Louis. She pulled him and Cole out of the house and while she brought the car to the gate someone tugged my sleeves, It was Cole. He casually warned Louis. "Don't worry. She is usually a bit crazier than that. You'll get used to it." ___ Louis's P.O.V. "So since how long have you to been married? " I asked Caleb and Gemma. We were at the mall in the food court. Eating our respective burgers. Gemma smiled, "We aren't married. Well, we live together but we just never had the time to get married and now I don't think we need it." That came to me as a shock, if I ever wanted a 'relationship' with Harry, I would be like them. They didn't need a marriage to certify their love for each other. married or not both the partner's surely complemented each other and their son; he was the cherry on the cake. Caleb looked visibly hurt by the statement but he didn't let it show much, even though I noticed. "That's nice. Going strong for years! " Louis cheered Caleb up. " Mommy I want ice cream! " " Sure honey." she held Coles's hand and kissed Caleb on his cheek making his facial expression more relaxed it seemed like and for that minute all his worries vanished just by a small gesture and Gemma left with that. He wanted something like that too... with Harry. Thanks to his imagination he could almost picture how Harry's plump lips would feel against his cheek. "Louis, can I tell you a secret? " Caleb whisper yelled, bringing me back to reality. " Me? " I didn't know if I said that or asked. "Yes, you silly. Unless there is another person named Louis sitting here. " He spoke just like Gemma. "Sure." Now curious I leaned a bit forward on the table. " I've wanted to say this out loud for so long but I'm wasn't sure if anyone could keep the secret in the family." He pulled out a blue velvet box from his pocket and opened it in front of me it had a huge sparkling rock "I'm proposing!" he spoke with excitement. My eyes popped out of my eye socket it was the most beautiful thing I had seen. The way Caleb's face brightened at the mention of his marriage. Caleb truly loved Gemma. "She's my life, Louis. I want it to be perfect. Will you help me? " "Of course I will!! When do you want to propose to her? " I was equally excited and honestly I had no clue why? "On her birthday, it's this weekend. I'm so nervous what if she doesn't like the ring? What if she says no? " He made a frowning face. Louis placed his hand on Caleb's hand. "She'll love it. Trust me." Louis said withdrawing from the touch he didn't want it to look wrong. "I hope. " he sighed "Quick she is coming... here, hide it." Caleb fumbled with his hands when I alerted him but he was saved in time. "Hi guys, I'm back. " She propped on the bench beside Caleb and smiled brightly. __ Later that evening Gemma dropped Louis home. Louis carefully shifted under Cole and let the boy continue sleeping peacefully in the backseat. "Thanks gem, I had a lovely time. " "Anytime, Louis," she whispered not wanting to wake her son up. "Bye Louis. " The couple waved to him. Louis turned around and entered the house. "Where the f**k were you?" The deep voice caused butterflies in Louis's tummy. "I-I went shopping with Gemma and her family." Harry looked pissed what was Louis trying to do? Sneak a place into his family? Why did Gemma take him shopping? What the hell! "I know what you're doing." he stated angrily. "Excuse me?" I was utterly confused. "Yeah, I know your plan. You're just a f*****g gold-digger. You want to get close to my family for money. It's unbelievable! How can someone be that cheap?" I was very hurt. Usually, it wouldn't hurt that much if a stranger said that to me. But when Harry said it. It hurt.   THIRD P.O.V. The second Harry saw the hurt marred on Louis's face he realized that he was pushing it. If he continued behaving this way he would never get Louis to fall in love with him. "I-I'm sorry I wasn't thinking." the words felt alien to Harry's mouth. He was Harry Styles and Harry styles never apologized (Unless Anne forced him too) "It's okay." Louis said rather quietly and he dragged his feet to his room where he could lock himself up and cry about it because that way nobody would know that he had cried. "Louis honestly, I didn't mean to hurt you. " Louis closed the door behind him pretending that he didn't hear Harry. He leaned against the closed door. It was the inevitability of truth. That's what he was, a cheap, desperate gold digger. He had crossed his line by trying to be a part of the family. He had learned to accept it now. He truly believed he didn't deserve a family. As he whispered softly so that nobody could hear what he wanted to scream out loud. ''It’s all right." He sniffled, "It makes no difference. I'm already broken.'' -
