CHAPTER 32 IN THE MORNING, Emmy and Eli both offered to drive me to the hospital to have my stitches taken out. “I’m going anyway,” Emmy said. “Why?” “You’re not the only one who got hit by flying shrapnel.” She rolled up her sleeve to reveal a cut on her forearm, not as long as mine, but it still had at least half a dozen stitches. “You did that rescuing me?” “Occupational hazard. I need to get the stitches taken out then have a quick consult with my plastic surgeon.” “You have a plastic surgeon?” “If I didn’t, I’d look like Freddy Krueger by now.
