Water gently lapped at the side of the boat creating a rhythmic sploshing that Kai found soothing. He breathed the salty air as he took in the view of chalk-white cliffs and a cleft of soft, fine sand which lead into the murky grey water. Theirs was the only boat in the dock; a simple orange and black striped dinghy just big enough for the crew. Tilting his head into the wind, Kai enjoyed the way the sea breeze dampened the heat. No matter how much the First tampered with the weather, there were facets of nature’s beauty that even he couldn’t mess up.
