Kai was unpleasantly surprised to find the cleaning girl in residence when he sank into the sofa and closed his eyes, leaving the guests in Vrethie’s capable hands for the time being. She was immediately irritating; sweeping around him and cleaning away the mud he had deposited onto the sofa with an angry sigh. “I’m about to do the laundry, and your clothes could definitely do with a wash.” Lani stopped cleaning and stood over Kai, with her hands on her hips. “She’s right. You do stink,” Meredith chimed in helpfully. “When is the last time you washed your clothes?” “What do you mean? Wash my clothes?” Kai screwed up his face as though she had asked something ridiculous. “What do you mean ‘what do I mean’?” “Wash my clothes...” Kai scoffed. “What am I? A girl?”
