"Oh, yes, your mother. She was the fairest of all. She had the face of an angel and a heart of gold. And you, my dear, you are just like her." "Then why did she leave me? Is she still alive? Will she ever come back for me?" "She left you for your safety. You will understand one day." "But what was her name?" "You will know soon. Sing for me, my dear."
"But Grandma, just tell me her name, please." "I will tell you after you sing for me, okay?" And so Pearl sang and sang. She sang her heart out. She sang her burdens off. She sang till she felt light. And she had finished. And when she had finished singing, felt a warm breeze inside her heart, and then she sighed. She felt fulfilled.
"Grandma, please tell me my mother's name now. I'm eager to know. What about my father? Does he know about me?" "Grandma... Grandma, are you awake?" Pearl checked her grandma's heartbeat and pulse. She shook her non-stop. And then a small box fell out of her right palm.
Pearl opened the box, and in it, she found a small note that read: "My precious Pearl, it is time for you to find out about your past and future. Follow your heart and go with it where it will lead you to. You once asked what my purpose was. My greatest purpose was raising you up, for you are the best thing that ever and will ever happen to me. Love, Aria/Grandma."
After reading the note, a small ring fell out of it. Tears flowed freely from Pearl's eyes. The only person she had ever known was no more. She was now alone. Pearl stood up, picked the box, put the note and the ring in it, went to pack some of her few belongings, took an ointment and sprayed the content all over her late grandma, and went out. Her small cottage burned as she went further, further into the world, further into her destiny.
