In the midst of a tense breakfast, Calder stopped mid-chew and glanced at the table, his eyes glazing over, the way they did when he was talking through the mind link to one of the warriors in our pack. I watched him carefully and listened as Sina moved around upstairs in her room. Suddenly, Calder shot up from the table, eyes completely golden, and hurried toward the front door. “Darius,” Calder called before looking back at him, “watch Pretty Bird. There are two of her father’s men at our borders that we need to take care of.” Thayer stood up from the table, his eyes turning almost black, then stormed out the front door before Calder could.
