Ethan swiftly jerked the steering wheel to the left and pulled the handbrake, causing his car to skid in a sharp turn and narrowly escape the attack. But this decision came with a cost—he was now far behind the van. "Damn it!" Ethan cursed loudly. Without wasting another second, he slammed the accelerator, his car roaring back to life as he chased the van carrying his father. The crowded streets, however, made it impossible for him to reach his car's full speed. His velocity barely touched 50 mph, even when the road occasionally cleared up. Unfortunately, the kidnappers' van was also traveling at a similar pace, leaving Ethan struggling to close the distance. The situation worsened when he got stuck at a red light while the van managed to pass through during the green. "Son of a—!"
