I looked at Sandra, pondering if I should tell her.
"Yes, I am" I answered honestly
I let out the breath I was holding. I was wondering how she would react to this news.
"What decides where your ranked at?" Sandra asked.
"Everyone starts off as the ranking of thee parents. Once your old enough to start work that's when you can either move up or down in ranking. It takes a lot of work to get a higher ranking job and life. Of course it is easy to fall down to the lower ranks." I explained.
"What ranking were you born into?" Sandra asked.
"I was born to a man that had been banished from his first home at age 10 by his parent. He moved across country and gave a sob story to be accepted into a higher rank. It took them years to figure out it was all a lie. At age 22 he was banished again," I told her
*Flashback
That day I got sent home from school early again for fighting. I also get into fights at school. I refuse to be bullied. It is also because I am the lowest ranking vampire in the school. The humans here don't even get treated like I do.
Mama sat me down and said "Listen here son." She paused to make sure I was listening.
"Yes ma'am," I said and gave mama my whole attention.
"You need to straighten yourself out. You hear me son. I won't be letting you go down the same path as your father. That's why I had to give your brothers and sisters up. To give them all better lives. I messed up with you. I didn't realize how bad things were going to be for you," Mama said and took a deep breath. I knew how hard this must be for here. My father was always a sore subject of her. I never brought him up.
"You are like your father in so many ways and you have never meet the man. His parents banished him son for doing what your doing now. He first started with getting into fights on occasion. He liked to fight to much. It increased and increased so much that he couldn't walk out his house without fighting someone. Nothing his parents did worked. It only fueled him more. One day when he was 10 a group of guys tried to jump him. He won. One guy was sent to the hospital in a coma, they never recovered. Another was severely wounded all kinds of broken bones and his brother was knocked out on the first punch he was the lucky one. The fourth one he was dead on scene," Mama stopped telling the story to read my reaction. To see how I was handling all of this.
"You got it all wrong mama I don't fight because I enjoy it I fight to defend myself. There is a difference," I pleaded with mama to understand.
"I do understand son but not everyone else is going to. Let them beat you up and let the teachers see that you were defending yourself. Later in life when you need a job and they are going to look at you for this and say nope he'll be like his father we can't hire him. I am telling you this for your own good," Mama said.
*Present time
"What about your mother?" Sandra asked.
"My mother was a good women. She was born to a woman who came from decent men. Unfortunately my mom had a hard life because when she was born her mother died during child birth. Her father was forced to give her up. It isn't common for a vampire to die during child birth. Our bodies are more resilient than that of a human. When it does happen it is seen as a bad sign and generally the child is tossed away and dies. My mother was given to her lower ranking cousin. Her father loved her and still cared for her from afar. "
"At the age of 16 my mom ended up in a w***e house. She wasn't supposed to have her first client until she was 18. She was there for training and a save place to sleep. My father wanted her he had just been banished his second time. He used her and she got pregnant with me. My father came back many times over to her. I used to think that the reason my father always came back was because she was his mate. Every time he visited my mom got pregnant. After the twins were born Soon later I started school and my mom realized that she couldn't keep us. She gave the twins up to a family. Then month later had the triplets and gave them up at birth. After that she gave the next set of twins up as well. It broke her heart but she wanted a better life for them and I was to old to give up. My moms cousin took care of everything."
"I worked hard my whole life to get where I am today," I explained.
