I returned to work around 2pm still shaken from the morning events. I really hoped that Garcia would calm me down, instead she made me feel more nervous, and raving on about how all of a sudden I was ‘Mrs Hunter.’ There were heaps of work to get through before I could clock out, so I tried to stay focused and get it done. I noticed that I got some stares from a few of my colleagues. The interesting thing about my co-workers was the fact that 90% of them were females and very attractive. The few men barely stood out and if you were to pay close attention seemed like they were betting for the same team if you know what I mean. I tried to ignore the stares, but their eyes were moving from me to the glass office as if they know something I didn’t. The telephone rang breaking me away from their stares. “Yes Mr Hunter?” I asked. “I will get right on it sir.” I replied after listening to his requests. More paperwork! When I imagined being an assistant I did not expect it to be quite like this. I quickly filed the paperwork since Mr Hunter needed them before 5. At 4.45 I ran up the stairs and gave one knock and entered, not waiting on his answer. His big chair was turned away from the desk, leaving only some parts of his legs visible. “Mr Hunter” I said as I cleared my throat. He didn’t turn around instead he mumbled something. He sounded out of breath and I couldn’t make out what he was saying. I slowly walked around the table to face him. He was all sweaty and exhausted. “Mr Hunter are you okay?” I asked nervously. He looked up at me his eyes almost looking right through me. “I am good Miss Pugg. I forgot to inform you that I will need your services tonight,” he said. “Services?” I asked gasping. “Apologies that was probably not the right word to use. I have a late meeting and I need you to take notes. That is if you are not busy since it is very short notice.” Mr Hunter replied as he looked at my all of a sudden pale and shocked expression. “What time should I be ready? I just need a quick change in clothes.” I replied much calmer and composed this time. “The meeting is at 7.30pm. I will pick you up around 7pm?” he asked. I nodded and headed out the office. This was also not what I expected an assistant to do I thought to myself as I walk downstairs to my cubicle. I quickly pack up since it is already after 5pm. The last 15min felt like forever, I nearly fainted when he mentioned the word ‘services’. For a second it made me feel cheap but luckily it was not at all what he meant and I hope it stays that way. I was going to catch a train back but since I needed to get home ASAP I will have to take a cab again. Already spending money I don’t have!
