The day began with a flurry of activity. It was like watching a beehive or ant nest coming alive. The rest of the survivors were being brought in. In most places such a sudden eruption of activity would likely be chaotic but here it was a perfectly coordinated and controlled display of efficiency. Annabelle and Sarah did all that they could to stay out of the way.
"Has anyone said anything about what's happening at home?" Sarah asked. "About when it will be safe to go back."
"No." Annabelle said. "There's been no information. It's been all take and no give. No one has said anything about going back. That might not happen for a while."
