The Fog and the Island

As we opened the door of our room we came face to face with Harry, he looked panicked. “ Amelia, Elizabeth thank goodness you are both alright,” said Harry. I responded with, “ of course we are alright Harry, has something happened?” “ I am afraid so, the ship's crew has vanished. There are only the six of us on the ship!” exclaimed Harry. Elizabeth and I looked at each other and I said, “ you were right something is definitely going on here.”

The three of us reach the deck of the ship and there stand the others. They looked panicked as they looked out towards the sea. We looked out at the ocean and the realization set in that this was the end. Black clouds fill the sky and the wind begins to howl. Waves crash against the ship knocking us over. A grayish green smoke swirls around and around us and everything goes dark.

I wake up to the smell of salt water. I sit up and look around and I see the others. As I am looking I realize that we are on an island in the middle of the ocean. I stand up and begin checking on the others. Once I determine that everyone is fine we begin to discuss what has happened.

Charlie begins our conversation by saying, “ I think the whole expedition was a set up. Someone wanted the six of us on this island. The big question is why.” “ we should take a look around. That way we know if we are alone on this island or not.” commented Edmund. Harry says, “ Edmund is right we need to know what we are dealing with. We also need to set up a shelter and find some food.” Elizabeth said, “ I can stay here and work on some kind of shelter if one of you will stay here and help me.” Will volunteers to stay with her, so the rest of us set to search the island.

We spent what feels like hours searching through the woods and we found absolutely nothing. We are completely alone on this island.When we returned to the beach we found that Elizabeth and Will had made a wonderful shelter out of tree branches, leaves and vine. Elizabeth used a fish bone and thin vine to sew together the leaves to make a roof and some makeshift blankets. We found lots of fruit on the island so we brought some back with us.

It has been three days since we woke up on this island. We were concerned about drinkable water. Until yesterday we didn't have any. However, thanks to Edmund and Harry we were able to find a small stream that so far seems to be ok to drink. Because of them we also eat fish because they found some sharp rocks and tied them to stickers and made spears so they could hunt. For now we all get along and we make decisions as a group instead of having one person decide everything. We did assign jobs . Edmund and Harry are in charge of hunting. Will and Elizabeth are incharge of making sure our shelter is stable. Charles and I are responsible for getting water and fruit. We work well together. All we can hope for now is that one day we can get off of this island.
