Chapter17

-Enigmia- I read a lot last night, I could not even remember when I passed out. My heart still had this painful feeling, but at least I now know why. He was in a relationship, thus meaning he rejected me as his mate. I felt dull and lifeless this morning but forced myself up as I needed to help Jess with this ridiculous ritual. I can’t believe I have to follow and spy on the one person I do not want to see at this moment. It hurts every time I just think of them. What would it feel like if I had to actually watch them being all over each other? "Are you OK, Enigmia, you seem a bit pale child?" I heard Jess ask. I brushed my feelings aside. She did so much for me. I really did not want to burden her with my troubles. “I’m fine, Jess, I think I was up too late last night, but nothing a cup of coffee or tea can't fix,” I tried saying as cheerfully as I could. “On the table I have just finished them,” she said. I walked over and downed the cup in one gulp with the hope it might give me a bit of energy, but I knew the cause of my lifeless body. Nothing would help at this moment. I still had a few chapters to go through and hopefully there is a remedy to this problem of mine. "I’m off to the training grounds, Jess." "Is there anything specific I must look for when observing him," I asked. "Nope, just observe and report." "We can log it into the file tonight." "Remember to eat something during the day" she shouted as I moved out, half chuckling at her. She has been so good to me all these years, and she still is. If that boy never saved me, what would have become of me? I am truly lucky to have Jess in my life. As I reached the training ground I took off my sweater and started my routine until he pitched up. I felt eyes on me, but ignored it as I was sure the hunters would all observe me, due to their curiosity about our beings. I saw Belle walking up to me, but ignored her. I knew I was not supposed to know her, it would put her life in danger. “Hi, I’m Belle, do you mind if I join you?” she asked. She was such a conniving woman, already found a way to get herself involved with my training. I smiled, “Sure, I’m Mia.” I introduced myself. -Micah- I have been watching her train for some time now. She seemed off today, her eyes seemed dim, and her smile did not reach her eyes as usual. I kept wondering if I was the cause of it. I watched Belle walking up to her and introduce herself, f**k I loved that woman like a sister, always a plan up her sleeve to reach her target. I haven’t caught up with her for some time, but it seems like it will be the perfect time to have a two-day mission to catch up with her. She may have a lot of answers regarding my mate. It still felt weird to think I had a mate. Being a hunter, it is rare for hunters and supernatural beings to be paired together. I wonder if this was why I did what I did when I was younger. I could not stand the thought of them executing her. I watched them train and suddenly Belle slammed her to the ground with great force… -Enigmia- We were still warming up when Belle asked if I was ready to have a small battle. I was unsure but nodded anyway. Getting in position, I seemed to manage to escape her attacks, then out of the blue she slammed me to the ground, “What is up with you Mia, you’re not concentrating, is there something…” Before she finished her sentence, I watched Micah pin her to the floor. Anger radiating off him. "Micah," she said shockingly. “What the f**k Belle?” his voice came out dangerously. I rushed to get to Belle. Grabbing him around his neck, the tingles shot all over me, but I flipped him off of her. "Don’t you dare hurt her," I warned him. He seemed to relax but was confused. “She just hurt you,” he said, “We are training.” I spat back at him. My fury radiating off my body. He got back to his feet and watched me carefully. “I am sorry to have offended you, Mia, I was just concerned that you would get hurt,” he said sincerely. It suddenly hit me, he was defending me. Why would he do that? My eyes blinked a few times to make sense of it all. "Belle, are you OK???", I asked while staring at him. She quickly answered, "Yes Mia, I am fine." "Thank you for defending me though." I quickly caught on that we were not supposed to know each other. He smirked at me, which made me more furious. “Seeming you are so quick to attack women, I think I should teach you a lesson,” I challenged him. I watched his smirk turn into a full-on smile, “Really,” he said amusingly. “OK, I will accept your challenge, by the way, Belle needs to get ready for a two-day mission anyway,” he said as his eyes traveled to Belle. Belle got up and grabbed her things. “I’m on it, Micah,” she said as she left the training area. “So Mia, do you really want to challenge me?” he asked while dropping his training bag at the side of the field. "Are you so arrogant that you think a woman can’t beat you?" "Is this a habit of yours to treat a woman the way you treated her?" I questioned him furiously. “I truly am sorry Mia, I was just… I was worried you got hurt.” he struggled to find his words, but I was shocked when he did. I was not prepared to give in. "We are on a training ground, would it not be obvious that one of us was bound to be beaten?" I stated with a blank face. “I see you are not willing to forgive me yet, shall we start then?”
