Chapter 27

-Micah- I should have infiltrated and taken down this pack a long time ago, but there were some good supernaturals within the pack, making it slightly complicated. The current Alpha took down the previous Alpha, by being deceitful. I read the report, it was shockingly sad, striking his opponent at his weakest point. Now that Enigmia was involved, he left me no choice but to act faster in this matter to get it closed and end his reign as an Alpha. "Belle, you can come down now," I called out, but was only met with silence. Moving toward the camp, I noticed there had been a struggle. f**k, the barrier must have broken. Trying to make sense of the direction she went, I cursed myself. I trained her too f*****g well to leave even a tiny hint and now it is backfiring right in my face. I was about to cross the border, knowing that there was no way I would leave this forest without her. -Belle- I was hunting the Beta, but I started thinking he was playing games with me. Out of the whole pack, I swear he was the only wolf with any talent when it came to fighting. Just when I think I have him, he moves aside, giving me a smirk. I badly wanted to swipe that smile off his face. Fed up, I tried changing my tactics. Micah would be having a fit once he noticed I went over their border. But the Beta kept taunting me. Since this battle started, I had been so close or so, I thought. The opportunity was so huge, just thinking of how much information we could retrieve from him. I could not let this opportunity slip. Sitting on a branch, I patiently scanned the area, but he seemed to have disappeared. I felt slightly disappointed at the idea of having to retreat. I tied the rope around the branch and, just as I wanted to slide down, I heard a voice at the opposite end of my tree. “Have you found me yet?” he asked teasingly, his voice deep and intriguing. I gasped as I watched him wide-eyed. At the same time, my foot slipped, making me lose stability and I fell to the ground. “Ahhhow,” I gave a painful shout, trying not to be loud. Attracting more wolves was the last thing I needed now. Grabbing my bow, I reached for an arrow only to notice that they fell quite a distance from me. Looking down at my ankle, I tried getting up to run, but the pain was too severe. f**k, I’m done for. How could I have been so stupid? Watching him picking up the arrows, he moved towards me slowly, “Stay where you are,” I threatened. Watching him move towards me, my heart pounded in my chest. “And if I don't,” he said with a mocking smirk plastered on his face, as he moved closer. I felt a tear leaving the corner of my eye. “Please, I...” He cut me off. "Don't cry, little huntress, I won't harm you," he said, his voice softer than before. "I need you to sit still, little huntress" he stated disregarding the arrows so they are out of my reach. He bent down right in front of me and I reached for my dagger only to be pinned to the ground. He took the dagger and threw it towards the arrows, as his body was lying over me, with a broad grin. He moved his mouth right next to my ear, "I'm going to help you little huntress, but I need you to trust me," he whispered, a shiver ran down my spine, leaving me wet between my legs. He moved up, looking into my eyes with his eyebrows raised. Moving downwards, he lifted my ankle and I flinched. "I need to remove your boot to get the blood flowing through," he said watching me, and I only nodded, feeling my face flushed from embarrassment. He was very handsome, and I struggled to keep my eyes off him. He picked me up and carried me some distance from the border, placing me behind a tree and left, "Wait..." I shouted, wanting to know whether he would consider returning my hunting gear, but he was gone. I sighed in defeat. He started chuckling from the other side of me. "You really need to stop doing that," I grumbled. “I'm Clive, by the way, does your ankle still hurt badly?” he asked, but I ignored his question. “I did not mean to hurt you, please forgive me.” he apologized as he placed a stray hair behind my ear before he stood up to leave. As he reached the border, he turned to look towards me once more. "Your gear is behind the tree," he softly shouted. I grabbed it and aimed an arrow in his direction, but I failed to shoot. "I'm here," I called out as I heard Micah's voice... -Micah- I kept seeing the Beta taunting me from the border. Then he threw an arrow towards me but not at me. It was Belle’s. I stared him down, and he suddenly ran along the borderline. If I did not know any better I would almost say that he wanted to draw my attention to follow him. Seeming I could not find Belle, and he had one of her arrows, I started sprinting towards him. He suddenly shifted facing me. “Look after her, Micah,” was all he stated. Shifting back to his wolf, he disappeared into their packland. That's when I understood that he was leading me towards her. “Belle,” I shouted. “Belle, where are you?” I shouted out a second time, and I heard her reply, “Micah, Micah, I’m here.” Following her voice, I found her behind a tree. “Belle, what happened?”, I asked concerned. She did not answer directly but eventually replied. "I lost my footing in a tree and fell. I can’t walk." I studied her ankle, noticing it swollen badly, "Where is your boot?" I questioned, her foot was so swollen I could not imagine her reaching it. "The Beta took it off," she stated. Keeping my opinion to myself, I told her to grab onto my neck. "We lost them this time. Once your foot is sorted, we will take this pack down." Moving towards the village, I noticed that she did not mention the Beta at all, leaving a grin on my face. I think we just found a way in, but kept it to myself for now. -Belle- I was relieved that Micah had found me. He asked a few questions, which I answered, but I could tell that he knew I was hiding something. I was relieved he did not push any further. My mind kept playing back to the Beta. Why would he bring me to safety? This would be against his Alpha’s wishes. Usually, they would capture and torture us, but he did not even consider that route. Why would he place his life in such danger? Was it a silent cry maybe to help them? His handsome face will probably be imprinted in my mind forever, but that information I will keep to myself. I don’t want to get into the same tangled mess as Micah and Sheri. Our problems are only starting, but they are both sucked into such love bubbles they are not thinking clearly. I needed to discuss this prophecy with Jess. I could not make peace with the fact that the two people I care most about are to go through extreme life-changing experiences.
