Nathan came up to me while I was busy training, stating that Sheri, as well as myself, had been summoned to meet the council in the boardroom within the next hour. I kept on hoping they would not figure out our plan, but Sheri told me to relax, it was probably just curiosity due to our fake dating scheme. I agreed and went for a shower, telling her I would meet her just before the meeting started. I still had this uncomfortable feeling about the meeting even though Sheri said I should calm down. I could not explain it. I hope Vanessa hasn’t pushed her nose into my business. The last complication I needed now was her trying to control me.
We both lived in the Huntley mansion, which made it easy to meet each other. Just as I arrived at her door, she came out. "Oh, perfect timing," she said, locking her door. We made our way to the boardroom and I opened the door for her, leading her to my usual spot around the table and pulled out a chair for her to sit on. As the boardroom started to fill, an all too familiar figure walked through the door. I had not seen her in eighteen years, but she did not seem a year older than she was that day. A faint smile crossed my lips, but fear brought it straight down. What if they had found out about the girl? I felt the tenseness crawl into my body. Jess gave a smile as everyone took their seats and, right behind her, she pulled a girl, no lady, no goddess to her side. “Gentleman, this is my daughter, Mia, she will be joining us in today's meeting,” she announced. My eyes were like glue stuck to her. I have never seen anyone possess so much beauty in my entire life. I stood up and made my way towards them, pulling out a chair for Jess as well as the goddess. Lingering until Vanessa entered, “Gentlemen, it seems like everyone is present, let's start,” she announced. I snapped out of this unexplainable trance and rushed back to my seat. I had to keep reminding myself not to stare, but her perfection was unremarkable. My mind was traveling to things it should not have. My behavior was out of place, and I am sure everyone noticed. Sheri grabbed my hand, whispering in my ear, "Calm down Micah, I will handle it if it comes up." I knew instantly that she had noticed it as well. This meeting already felt as if it was way too long. How am I to focus on anything with her sitting in this room? My entire being shouted to get close to her, to touch her, I wanted to feel my lips on hers, stop Micah, I reprimanded myself, I had to get focused for Sheri’s sake. I bent my head downward, scowling at myself, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to calm down and as I lifted my head with a blank but serious face I started, "We have been informed that we are summoned by the council to meet." "May I ask what the summons is about?"

Well, I planned a lot of traveling with Enigmia to find her true mate and make sure she lives happily without going through the hardships as set out in the prophecy. Now I’m watching a complete disaster in front of me. I saw the attraction. They tried their best to keep it to themselves and to look in any other direction than each other, but they could not fool me. I saw Micah’s expression when she entered. Her eyes were already glued to him. Bending down, I had to ask her softly to stop staring, which made her face turn red with embarrassment. Luckily, the council did not notice this behavior, but this is merely because they do not really understand the mate bond. If Micah was her true mate, I might have an enormous problem facing me, as I was called out to give a blessing for the couple to be wedded, and he was one of them. I scrambled through my mind to find a way to buy time on this blessing. I saw Micah and Sheri's contempt towards each other, but I did not see love. Something was off, and I am sure Micah has a lot to do with it. “Vanessa, please explain how the couple were unaware of this ritual?” I asked, curious to hear excuse. I was absolutely certain she was meddling in her grandson's affairs without his consent.

This woman will drive me up the wall. All she had to do was give her freaking blessing, and now she put me right on the spot. Micah is going to flip. I started thinking about how I was going to get myself out of this situation. “I wanted to keep it a surprise, this ritual will give us the answer to whether you will have a prosperous future together,” I answered the question, looking at Micah. His eyes squinted looking towards me furiously. I was a bit taken aback by the hatred that came from his stare. I was crossing a line, and I knew it, but time was running out, and I needed him to take over the business and village, "I see," he said venomously, so people couldn’t seem to keep their noses out of my personal life. His eyes squinted, anger radiated from my body, "What if the ritual fails? Have you even thought about what this will do to the people involved?" His voice broke through the room.

I took his hand and looked at him, half begging not to make a scene. “Micah, it can’t be that bad, it’s just a silly ritual, what harm can it do anyway?” I stood from my chair and straightened my shoulders and announced to the boardroom, "Ladies, Gentlemen, no matter what this ritual confirms, Micah and I have discussed our path forward, we are not in a rush to get wed too soon. We would like to first know more about each other before we take any drastic steps, but we have discussed our options. We will not be forced into any discussion made by a ritual, a council or family members. The attraction is there, but we prefer to cultivate it by taking things at a slow pace." I saw the disagreement on the men’s faces due to my boldness when I spoke up, but I could not care less. I knew I would be long gone before this wedding happened, as long as nothing was forced. Micah stood up next to me stating that he was standing his ground with me. He is willing to do the ritual, but we will not be forced...
