Chapter 19

-Enigmia- I was very busy in the kitchen singing while baking, when I heard the door open. Jess turned to look towards me and her mouth fell open. “Are you planning on feeding the village?” she asked. “No, well maybe, I’m just in a happy mood,” I say with a broad smile. “So I see you and Micah sorted out your misunderstandings?” she asked. I looked at her confused. She knew and never said anything. I felt slightly hurt by the fact that she knew. “Oh, don’t be cross at me, I only found out last night,” she confirmed. That made me feel slightly better. I would be broken to know she hides stuff from me. “So you are aware that Micah will have to give up everything he worked for in this village just to be with you,” she said. My head snapped up towards her, I did not think of it that way. I was so selfish just to have him that I didn’t take the time to consider what would become of him. “It’s his choice Enigmia, don’t let your head start fooling you around again,” her voice broke through the kitchen door as she entered. I nodded, but I have not had this discussion with him, and he said nothing about it. I kept the information to myself. "Enigmia, I recently found out that you were meant for something great, but I can not say what, as I can not interfere with the goddess's plans." "I can tell you, child, you will go through some tough times, and it breaks my heart knowing that, but always remember, I love you, and you are always welcome home." "I'm telling you because I don’t want to keep things from you but certain things I can not disclose." I searched her face, why is she telling me this, was something going to happen to Micah. I was concerned about her opening up to me like this. Somehow, it made me uncomfortable. “Why are you telling me this, Jess, I don’t understand?” I asked with concern. "Because you found your mate, you need to know that the danger will start." "I need you to always try and be positive no matter what you go through." she confessed. What do I make of this information? I thought. “Jess, Micah is going on a mission for two days and…” Before I could finish, she confirmed that she knew and this is why she is preparing me to always be alert. “I can’t stop you Enigmia, you have to go live your life, but my door is always open should you want to return.” I nodded my head. "Jess, I know I always call you by name, but you do know I consider you my mother, don’t you?" I tell her. Seeming we were in the conversation of opening up, I somehow felt it was important for her to know. I watched her as she burst into tears, “No, please don’t cry.” I ran towards her, and she grabbed me into a tight hug. "They are happy tears." "I never thought you would ever consider me a mother. You make me happy, and I am extremely proud of you," she said. I never knew it bothered her, and my first tear fell. “Great, now we are both crying,” I mumbled between the tears. “At least you baked enough to drown it out,” she mumbled back, and I started laughing. “You have to keep logging information or Vanessa will grow suspicious, can you do that?” she asked, and I nodded against her shoulder. “Micah will be here soon, you better go pack your traveling bag and weapons.” she said, I moved back and gave her a kiss on her cheek, “Thank you, mom” and she burst into tears again. “Don’t mind me sweetheart go, go, you don’t have much time to pack” and I rushed towards my room to get my things together. -Jessica- For years, I waited for that word from her mouth, but I made peace that she never saw me that way, until tonight. She had no idea what that meant to me. I knew something might happen while they were away. The worst was, I was not allowed to interfere. It killed me on the inside, knowing she would never be the same after the prophecy starts. At least she made enough cookies to drown my sorrows. I heard the knock at the door and went over to open it. Micah stood at the door with a huge grin. I moved aside for him to enter and watched his eyes grow. "Wow Jess, don’t you think you made a bit much," he said, staring at the kitchen top. I laughed, “Tell your mate that, but note they are all mine thanks to you putting your mate in a good mood, she went on a baking frenzy,” I said in a teasing tone. "Micah, look after her." "I don’t know what your plans are and how you are moving forward." "Your father and grandmother will never…" I started when he interrupted. “Don’t worry Jess, I choose her, I know I have to let go of the hunters, everything will work out, I promise.” I reassured her while pulling her in for a hug. “Do I need to call you Mom now?” I heard him teasing. I could not help start laughing, "You are surely something else, Micah, and no, you do not have to call me mom," I said, slapping his shoulder. -Micah- I was still teasing when I saw Belle descending the staircase. How could I have been so lucky? She was perfect in every way possible. My eyes lit up when she came into view. I reached out my hand to take her bags and she slapped them away. My brows furrowed in confusion, "These are my bags." "You have your own to carry, don’t dare treat me like I will break." Jess almost rolled on the floor laughing. I was shocked by her action. “The bags, Enigmia, or I carry you out of here with them,” I stated, staring her down. She looked at me with a stare of her own. Jess sat down and watched us with amusement. “Fine,” she said, pouting her bottom lip and shoving the bags into my arms. “I’m not a baby, you know,” I looked at her with a smirk, “I know, but let me spoil you, just a bit” I say as I bent down and kissed her forehead, pulling her into my chest. My touch relaxed her instantly, which I found fascinating. “Ready to leave?” I asked, and she nodded. We greeted Jess and moved around the cottage to meet Belle and Sheri. Just as we reached the back side of the cottage, I pushed her into my body and kissed her as if I waited for years to lay my lips on hers. “Love, if you keep up with these tiny actions, you are going to drive me insane,” I whispered into her ear. Her cheeks turned a light pink as her shyness showed. “Exactly these little actions are driving me insane,” I say, and she slapped me softly on my arm. “It is not as if I can control it, you know,” she stated a bit annoyed and I chuckled, throwing my arm around her, pulling her into me as we moved into the dark forest.
