Chapter 25

-Remu- I was taking a stroll with Sheri after breakfast, and we discussed how we could possibly get out of our situation. I was not prepared to see her leave again, but for her safety I might have no other choice. I knew I could take her anytime as the hunters wouldn’t be able to control my wrath should I release it, but I wanted to build our relationship the right way. I wanted her father to accept me for the sake of her. It just seemed such an impossible task, he was so set on ending me. Every time we got close, I tried to reason with him, but reasoning was not on his to-do list when it came to me. My eyes furrowed, there was another presence in the forest, and it felt off, “Sheri, I need you to get to the camp now,” I said. She started complaining, wanting to spend more time. It killed me inside to watch her begging for my attention. I wanted to give her all my attention, but I swear problems seemed to follow me wherever I go. I am decades old and have never been given someone to love during those decades. Now that I have found her, everything will stand in my way of just having a peaceful life, spoiling her. “NOW Sheri GO,” I demanded slightly harshly, but I needed her out of danger. I moved back towards the camp area and once I felt the danger was more towards the cliff area, I placed a barrier over the camp to keep us out of sight. Now my only task at hand was getting my King and Queen to safety. f**k, I did not even know where they went. "Belle," I shouted with concern laced across my face. “Belle, there is danger. Where did Micah and Enigmia go? I need to get them to safety,” I stated. She furrowed her brows and tilted her head in amusement. “You really believe them to be your Ki…” "Yes, I do and right now is not the time to discuss this. I need them safe. Do you know where they might be?" I questioned her as my anger radiated through me. Her mouth hung open. “I’m unsure, Remu, it could be anywhere along the riverside,” she scratched her head, then her eyes went wide, “Either the waterfall or the cliff, Micah has a thing jumping off but no one ever follows,” she said. I was certain it would be the latter as this is the area I felt the activity in, so I could not investigate. f**k, I don’t know what to do here. "Remu, we are both trained hunters. If you tell us which area, we might be able to somehow distract them so you can have a clear path," Belle recommended. “No, there is no way I'll put Sheri in that position,” he defended. -Sheri- I had about enough with everyone thinking I was incompetent. “Enough Remu, I am capable of protecting myself as well, and you are well aware of this. Stop trying to cover me in cotton, I am not that fragile,” I burst out with anger. I watched him walk up to me with squinted eyes, "Sorry Love, can you repeat that again?" he said with a warning in his tone. “I can do it Remu, you keep on underestimating me, and it hurts,” I told him in a more gentle voice. He searched my eyes and I could see the conflict he was going through. “I can not lose you, Sheri,” he said with worry. “What do you mean, my love? You will be there right by me. We can conquer anything together,” I tried to soothe his fear. “Fine, but you have to promise if anything goes wrong, you get out and run to the hunters' village, promise me, even if anything happens to me, you will run to safety” I say softly as if I am already regretting this decision. “I promise,” I lied to him, if he thinks I’m leaving him behind he does not know me at all. Yes, I was raised a lady, which made me seem fragile, but I was no lady on a battlefield. My father made sure I could handle any situation coming my way. I might have disliked him because of his rejection toward Remu, but otherwise he was a great father. -Remu- “Fine, but just so both of you know, I am not happy about this,” I said but more focused towards Sheri. She bent over and gave me a tiny kiss on the cheek, “I know love, but who better to protect me than you?” she says while walking away to get her hunting gear. As they got battle ready, I sat on the bench trying to think of how we were going to handle this. We can’t go in without a plan. “Are you willing to jump off a cliff?” I hear Belle from behind. “Why do you ask?” I look at her questioningly. “When Micah jumps he never comes back up he disappears. We searched the area before but nothing. Still, he always came back unharmed,” she stated, and the smirk on my face grew. What a sly little s**t… he found an air pocket cave. “Yes, I’ll do it, but you need to know the exact spot he jumped from,” I say amusingly. I actually felt excited, you don’t find many of these caves. She pulled up a map showing me the exact spot he used to jump from. “Thank you, Belle, This is indeed great news,” I say, smiling. “What! How can this be great news?” she asked shockingly. “Can’t say, maybe one day you’ll just have to jump and find out,” I say cunningly. “My plan is that you hunt me, you will have to shoot, even if you hit it's fine, I can heal it, but please try not to kill me though. Push me in a corner to the edge so it looks like I have no other choice than to jump but not at the exact spot due to them already being very alert on that exact spot. This might throw them off a bit. Once I am in the water I need both of you to go back to camp. I have placed a barrier so they can not see you. Get the camping gear packed. There is no way we will be able to spend another night. They are looking for someone specific and I believe it might be Enigmia.” I laid down my plan. Their mouths hung open. “Remu, when will I see…” I cut her off. “Safety first, Sheri, I will talk to Micah afterward. We will find a solution,” I stated in a serious tone and she nodded. "Let's do this," I say enthusiastically, it has been years since I have been on a battlefield.
