The maids started entering the room and chased Micah. I saw guards moving his way, and then it confirmed all my fears. We were being forced into being married. The whole passage had guards to make sure we followed through on instructions. I felt like a ragdoll being thrown from one thing to another. As they finished, they lifted the linen from the mirror so I could have a full view of myself. The dress brought out every curve, my hair was styled with a wavy effect and tiny white flowers ran down it, it was like looking at a fairy tale book. I must admit I liked what I saw, but I fear that the groom was not who I wanted him to be. My body was shaking from anxiousness. "Take this, my lady, it will calm you down, I can see the excitement is too much."
"No, Thank you," I stated, not trusting anything coming from them. I was ready to go into fight or flight mode.
-Micah-
The guard commanded I get dressed, and I laughed loudly in a mocking tone. “Do any of you really think that you will be able to get me to bend to Vanessa’s requests?” I asked dangerously. “Please, sir, she gave us instruction and should we fail our families will be asked to leave the village as she felt that if we can’t convince you then we do not care enough to save this village, we have nowhere else to go.” the one guard blurted out nervously while the other guard stared him down. “You should not have been so open towards him, he warned the guard”.
“Stop fooling yourself, Peter, if anyone thinks they will be able to convince Micah to do this willingly, then they do not know him at all.” the other defended himself. I watched their bickering for a while and wiped my hand over my face. How dare she threaten the village? This was unacceptable. She threatened the people to do her dirty deeds. This was new information to me. I never knew she had stooped this low. “Gentlemen, I will act the part and get dressed for your family's sake, but be warned now, defend your family as much as possible as this wedding will not take place, do you understand?” I stated with authority, I did not know I possess. Both looked at me fearful but relieved and nodded in agreement. “Good, now, let me be as I need to f*****g blow of steam before going through this shitshow.” I ordered and they left the room immediately. I looked down the hall to see if there was a way out to get to Enigmia. She needed to know what was happening. f**k, these guards were everywhere. I moved towards the window, ready to jump but noticed more guards patrolling the f*****g window. Has Vanessa gone mad…
-Enigmia-
I felt disappointed that Micah never showed up tonight, but at least with this stunning dress Jess got me, I am sure to steal some of his attention. It was a tight-fitting silk gown with green lace over it. Sculpting my body perfectly. As I descended the stairs, I heard Jess gasp, "Enigmia, you look absolutely stunning," she complemented, and my eyes lit up with excitement. “Oh, Jess, I can't wait, is it time to leave yet?” I asked impatiently. I needed to see Micah, it felt like forever since I had last seen him.
We got to the entrance of the event and some staff members handed out champagne as everyone mingled outside, tiny fairy lights hanging from the pillars, everything looked so white and clean, it was beautiful. It actually reminded me of a wedding. "Jess, are you sure it is just a function? This seemed a lot more like a wedding, and whoever decorated really knew how to do it." I was completely in love with the way they put everything together.
-Jessica-
Once the word ‘wedding’ left her mouth, I went into a type of survival mode. “Enigmia, find us a table somewhere there in the corner where we can view everyone. I wanted to go ask Belle if she would like to join us.” I lied, to draw her attention elsewhere so I could have a word with Belle as to what was happening. "Belle…—," she cut me straight off, “Jess, they are forcing them, this is their wedding,” she stated as she knew what was coming. I shook my head, so this will be the day, my baby girl’s heart will be broken and nothing will ever be the same again. I would still try to save her, but I know it will be in vain. Vanessa had just opened a vicious cycle, one of the worst prophecies will take effect after tonight. “Join us at our table, Belle,” I asked, so things do not look suspicious.
-Enigmia-
“Jess, Belle, did you hear someone is getting married?” I said, super excited about the couple. “I bet they will have many happy years ahead.” I noticed Jess and Belle looking at each other half uncomfortable. “This is a forced marriage Enigmia, I don’t think this couple will be happy at all” Belle confessed. “Oh no, why would the hunters do such a thing? To force someone to get married. It makes no sense at all,” I said, heartbroken. How unfortunate that they will never have the opportunity to meet their other half. I really felt saddened by it.
People started moving into the building, and we moved inside. I quickly shifted into the back row and Belle looked at me questioningly. “Can we sit here please? I don’t want to witness the sadness. I find it too hard to watch two people give themselves to each other when they don’t want to.” I begged and saw a tear slip off Jess’ face when the music started playing. “We have only found out now,” she stated. My heart was pounding in my chest, as my eyes moved towards the front. There he stood all handsome in his tux, although I preferred him in more casual wear. Nonetheless, he was more handsome than ever. My eyes were tearing up. Then the doors opened, and an older man lead Sheri down the aisle. I saw her eyes red from crying. No, No, No, this is not happening, I keep telling myself. I stared at the front as they faced each other and then nothing… everything was blank until I heard, “Micah Huntley, do you take Sheri Cross to be your legally-wedded wife, to have and to hold, to love and to cherish, for poorer or wealth, in sickness and health until death do you part” from the priest. Silence flowed through the building, then Micah said, “I….” and I burst out of the building.
