Chapter 2

2019 Words
“I literally asked people to make sure that he was not coming here. Then what the hell is he doing here?” She asked and I shook my head. “He is unpredictable. And he doesn't need permission from anyone to enter a party.” I said. We both huffed out a breath. “C'mon. Let's dance. We'll come back once he leaves this place.” She told me. I opened my mouth to deny and tell her that I'm not dancing but her glare had me shutting my mouth. “Your family is not here. Remember that.” She told me before she dragged me onto the dance floor. I started to move awkwardly on the rhythm with her. Soon she was surrounded by guys around her while I was pushed in the corner. I was thinking about leaving the stage when I was grabbed by my hips and was pulled behind. My head slammed into a hard chest and I saw his face. “Blake?” I said and he grinned. Chapter 3 Blake grinned at my stunned expressions. And for once, I was stunned. Not in a good way obviously. I swatted his hands that were gripping my hips and spun around to face him. He still had his cocky grin on his face. I pursed my lips and glared at me. “What happened?” He asked me. While his one side of lip tucked up in a smirk. I gave him my most annoyed expression. “That's what I should be asking for.” I snapped at him. His eyes gleamed in a mischievous way. I knew that was about to come and was the last thing I wanted to hear from him. “What are you doing here, sweetheart? I've never seen you in any of the parties before. So what's a nerd like you doing here?” He asked me. “None of your business.” I replied flatly. He stepped closer to me, making me want to retreat to get away from him, but I didn't. I stood there and stared at him like he was a bee. He raised his hand and traced his thumb on my lower lip. “And you have makeup on. Did your parents know about this?” He asked. I pushed him back. I wanted to throw a snarky reply in return but decided against it. Bully, like him, needed attention. No, they starved for it. So the best way to deal with them was to ignore them. Therefore, without replying to him, I turned around to walk away from him. However, just when I spun around to walk away from him and leave him there standing like a fool looking for answers, he turned me back around to face him. This time, his arrogant face was twisted into anger. He got on my face. “Don't walk away when I'm talking to you.” He barked at me. This got the attention of everyone around me and my face was heated in embarrassment. I was not used to being the center of attention. I looked around and couldn't see Shirley anywhere. Thus, when I felt everybody's eyes on me, I found myself shrinking into myself. With a panic look, I looked around me and started backing off with my face still towards him. Once I was more than three steps away from him, I saw him taking an angry step toward me. Which in return, made me terrified. I turned around to bolt away from the prying eyes and Blake's temper. However, just when I did turn around my face smashed into something hard, and I felt someone's hand on the side of my waist to stop me from falling behind from the impact. I looked up to find two black eyes staring right back at me. I averted my eyes and tried to walk away when I heard Blake's voice. “Stop, right there. I said stop.” He said. And for some stupid reason or maybe out of fear, I did stop. He strode toward me and pointed a finger at my face. “If I ask you to stop then you do as I say. Understand?” He yelled at me. Out of nowhere, a big hand came around me and held Blake. “Now Blake. Listen carefully. It's not school that means this is not your territory. So go and find someone else who actually gives two shits about your nonsense. Don't bother this young lady.” A voice boomed from behind me. I craned my neck to see the guy, who I just bumped into. He glanced my way but then turned his eyes back to the person who had made my life and god knows how many else's, hell. I heard Blake leaving the scene. I bowed my head as a tear slipped from my eyes. Oh, god. I did not want to cry. I really, really don't want to cry, but I could not help when a second tear slipped from my eye. Subtly, I wiped my cheek and moved around the guy to get out of there as soon as I could. But before I could do just the same, but my hand was grasped by someone, and I was turned around. Like I had expected, it was the same guy who told Blake off. “Hey, are you okay? I'm sorry about that.” He said. I twisted my hand out of his and took a step back. He raised his hand as if surrendering to me. “Just asking. So are you here with someone?” He asked as he dug in his pockets for something. Taking out a handkerchief, he extended it to me. I stared at it like it was a rag piece offered to me. “Take it. It is clean. And I think you need it.” He told me. Reluctantly, I took it from him and wiped under my eyes. Cleaning my tears, I searched for somewhere to place it but couldn't find one. He extended his hand again, and I returned his handkerchief back to him. He smiled at me. Can't help but feeling great for his help, I returned his smile. His smile brightened. He extended his hand again. “Umm. Would you like to dance with me?” He asked me. This time, without thinking, I placed my hand in his and let him lead me to dance. “So what's your name?” He asked. “Viri.” I told him. To be very honest I was feeling very awkward. Having to dance with a guy that I didn't even know, but I tried to convince myself that it was a one-time opportunity. To try and have fun with a guy without anyone telling me that I was attempting a crime or this was not something that I should be doing. There was a possibility that I would never get to this again. So I forced myself to calm down and smiled at him. “What's your name?” I asked him. He smiled back at me. “My name is Mike.” He replied. “How did you manage to get Blake away from me? He doesn't listen to anyone then why did he listen to you?” I asked him. “Well. Because it's not a wise decision to fight with the owner of the house or this party.” He said. And I looked at him. Oh, damn. “Oh. Actually I didn't receive the invitation directly from you, so I didn't know who you were.” I blurted out. And bit my tongue for blabbering. He chuckled a little. “Don't worry about it. Next time, I'll give you the invitation myself.” He said to me. I shook my head. “No. I didn't mean it like that.” I said but he squeezed my hand. “I know.” He whispered. Then he leaned down to my ear. “Want to get out of here?” Chapter 4 His question gave me an option to escape. I eagerly grabbed it and nodded my head in yes. He grinned with a victorious glow on his face, like he had just won a lottery and placed a hand on my back to lead me out of the dance floor. I took the hint and followed his lead. Having his hand behind my back was very uncomfortable. I had never been touched like this by any of the guys before. No one except my family men was allowed to do this. Not in a gross way. Well let's just say that I had never, except for my brother beating me, been touched in an affectionate way by any guy. In conclusion, I was looking for a way to get his hand off my back. We were walking until I saw the exit and began walking towards it. Weirdly, however, when I started walking there, I was stopped by Mike. "Whoa, whoa, hey. Where are you going?" He asked. His hands were raised in the air, trying to stop me without actually touching me. His face was all but an expression of confusion. As if my actions were confusing. Now, I was confused by the way he was looking at me, more because of his question. "What do you mean, 'where you are going?'" I asked him. Glancing at the exit, I pointed a finger at it, "Going out. You asked me if I wanted to get out of here." I said. Not being able to understand where this was going. Did I hear him wrong earlier? Suddenly, his expression changed and settled more into what I could only guess as a realisation. "Oh, Oh. No, I meant like, you wanted to get out of here?" He told me, pointing at the stairs that led up to what I guessed where the bedrooms were. I was still confused. I did not understand what he was saying. Didn't, 'let's get out of here' meant getting out of the place and getting some fresh air? I shook my head at his question. There was certainly some miscommunication between us. "I don't understand. I think you were saying to get out of the place and get outside, in an open space. To get some fresh air." I told him. He looked at me, scanned my face and then let out a low laugh. He looked at me like he thought I was ridiculous and naive at the same time. He ran his hand through his hairs. "No, I mean like 'get out of here to make out' kind of get out here." He explained. My mouth literally fell open when he explained what he was saying. He meant that we sneak into one of the bedrooms upstairs and do all the ... No. No way. I shook my head frantically and backed away from him, this was not going where I thought this was going. It was certainly not what I was expecting. "No, no, I did not mean that." I kept shaking my head and backing away until, when Mike grabbed arms from both sides stopping me from moving any further and smiled. Shaking his head, he said, "Hey, don't worry. I was just - I was just ..." then he shook his head at himself. "I got the wrong idea." He replied. Letting my arms go, he straightened. He ran a hand through his hairs before he shoved both his hands inside his pockets. Well, this was awkward. We both assumed different things from the same line. I took the words literally while he meant something else. And that too, something so absurd. I mean who in this world would want to go to bed with a person that they just met? Was it common? I did not know because I don't understand how the world of party’s function. So, what could I even say? I almost never talked to a guy before and this sudden proposition of something like this ... Gosh.
