Reunited, and it feels so good

Since grandpa blew up Val’s house, guess who stayed with us? I didn’t mind. At least, if Val was here, I didn’t have to worry about her. We didn’t learn if the crossfire caught Seb and Seth until they had sorted through the rubble. I gained a new roommate.
As I got her settled, someone knocked at the door.
“Hey, Shay,” I said.
“Are you guys okay?” He asked.
“Yeah. Thanks for the phone call.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t want to make that call.”
“Still, thank you,” Val said.
Then Ryanne yelled, “Shay, it’s your turn!”
“Got to go. We’re having a heated battle of Monopoly.”
He waved to us.
“Is something happening with those two?” Val asked.
“I don’t think so. Shay has become a wonderful companion to her.”
She smiled.
“That’s good.”
