It had been a few days since I visited Seth’s room. They had to do the paperwork to allow the transplant, prepping Val and her parents about the surgery. I stayed with her the entire time. My parents understood.
I sat in her room with her. A nurse inserted medicine in her IV to help her fall asleep before taking her to surgery. The surgery would take four hours.
Once she was asleep, the surgical nurses came in and wheeled her into surgery. Since I had time to kill, I visited Zachery. I walked up to his room to find him awake and sitting up. His parents were there. I nodded as I entered, and they got up, giving us a few minutes alone.
