“No way!! No freaking way!” Dante yelled, immediately pulling the attention of everyone in the office.
My heart skipped a beat, and my insides twisted in fear and shame.
“Hahahaha! This has to be the highlight of the year. You should be given a bonus just for this alone.” He bellowed.
Slowly, people began gathering. It was break time after all, everyone was free. How stupid of me, I should have considered something like this happening, but then again, how could I have possibly known that she would be seeing this ugly jerk.
Dante's friends gathered around first, the three musketeers.
Collins is the big dumb brute who can create a ledger if his life depended on it or gauge the value of anything in his life. Everyone wonders how he got the job, or why he even works as a real estate agent.
Solomon is the skinny freak, dozens of assault complaints are filed against him monthly by eighty percent of the female workers here yet he still keeps his job.
I wonder why.
And then there's Matthieu, the french ghost. An insultive nickname given to him by his own friends. He's the only relatively good-looking one among the group, also the most liked, and the only one, Dante included, who has an idea about what we do here.
Then there's Dante, son of the CEO, the ultimate nepo baby.
With his and his friends loud guffawing at my miserable attempt to ask the office beauty out, everyone soon gathered.
Bastards, all of them. They are all laughing now, but I've never laughed at any of them. But then again, the only thing a group of miserable people love to do more than being miserable is seeing other people miserable.
“How dare you, you frog, think you can taste swan meat?” Dante walked up to me, staring me in the eye. I could see it, he held no regard for me whatsoever. The disdain was so intense, I've never felt so small.
“So what? You saw the beauty that Mirabel is and thought that there is a universe where you are worthy of this?” He gestured at Mirabel, and the cold, hardworking goddess of my dreams was shattered when he s*****d her a*s and she blushed profusely.
Her legs squirmed, she was…
She was turned on? From just a slap on the buttocks?
Ah…. I see.
At that moment, it suddenly dawned on me. All the promotions, all the times I caught her in the office late at night, she wasn't working overtime, no, actually she was, just in a different way.
Slut!
My eyes went red, and at that moment, my shame and fear turned into anger. I didn't even realise when I started laughing.
“Hahahaha!!”
Dante furrowed his brows, his uglier face twisting into a more grotesque form in what appeared to be a look of disgust.
I straightened my back, now towering above Dante, then I stared at him. I forced away the image of the king of this failing business, I forced away the bullying I've endured for years just to make a living.
I grinded all my anger and frustration into fuel, and poured it all in the raging inferno that was my anger.
I looked at Mirabel, and as much as I wanted to call her ugly, I knew she was an absolute beauty, but even trash can look beautiful.
“Him? Really?” I voiced out, and the surrounding became dead silent.
“You really couldn't do better than him? The ugliest of the pack?” I pointed at Collins, “Dumb Collins would have been a better choice. I mean… what were you thinking?”
Even as my anger boiled, I made sure not to make a show of it. They don't deserve my anger. Also, it's not like I can beat Dante without his bodyguards stepping in.
So instead, I'll pack into an apartment in his head and live there rent free for the rest of his life.
“Looks is not all that matters, as long as you can satisfy your woman–” Dante began but I cut him off,
“Please, we've all seen it.” I looked at my coworkers, the audience watching this spectacle, they all avoided eye contact.
“We all know that your height wasn't the only growth that was stunted, and don't give me that s**t about size doesn't matter. Yours is so small, you probably use a tweezer to wank yourself.”
A few snickers left the audience, but was quickly held back when Dante glared at them. By now, his confident smirk had vanished, and anger was raging within.
But underneath that anger, I could see something else.
Shame.
Before he could speak, I interrupted him again, hitting while the iron was hot.
“What? Daddy's money couldn't buy you a bigger weenie? Is that why you surrounded yourself with men better than you are? To make you feel good about yourself?”
The words just kept flowing out,
“I bet this poser,” I pointed to Mirabel, “is also a great actress. Come on, you should know there's no way you can please a s**t like this!”
“In fact, I'm willing to bet that she's doing it with one of your friends. Maybe all of them.”
“We all know for a fact that creepy Solomon will be all up in that, and Collins is just too dumb to turn down a girl. And, let's face it, your friend doesn't really like you, if they did, they wouldn't have leaked pictures of your tiny weiner in the first place!”
Bang~
My vision blurred and I staggered back, collapsing into a desk. It took a few seconds for my vision to clear, but when it did, Dante was already leaving.
“You are fired.” He muttered in a low voice.
He wasn't the one in charge of that, but I knew if he said it, then I definitely was.
I got up and looked around me, and my co-workers were giving me looks of disgust and disapproval.
I was shocked for a moment, before it sank in once again. The bias of the world.
Heh…
I've lost my job, yet why am I still smiling like a fool? Why do I feel this tingling sensation in the pit of my stomach?
The ringing sound in my ears from the punch suddenly intensified before vanishing, and what came after were words that signified the beginning of the end.
