Chapter 1 Yesha POV Yesha was surrounded by darkness. It pressed in on her from every side, a relentless void that chased her no matter how fast she ran. She could feel its cold grip pulling at her, desperate to consume her. But far in the distance, there was a glimmer of light. It was faint but promising. Without thinking, she raced toward it. The closer she got, the brighter the light became, forcing her to close her eyes as its intensity washed over her. And then, everything was swallowed by the light. Yesha jolted awake, drenched in sweat, her breath coming in sharp, panicked gasps as if she had just finished a long exhausting run. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart and exhaled slowly. As her surroundings came into focus, confusion set in. She was sitting on an incredibly soft bed in an elegant room she didn’t recognize. The luxurious chandelier hanging from the ceiling, the finely crafted furniture, the grand walls—it was all a clear sign of wealth and royalty. She quickly checked her body, feeling her shoulders and chest. There was no pain, no blood, no marks—nothing. No sign of the injuries she’d expected after her death. “Impossible,” she murmured to herself, still in disbelief. Just then, the sound of a door opening broke her from her thoughts. Her attention shifted to the two figures entering—a woman and a man, both appearing to be in their mid-40s. She noticed something odd. They wore crowns. Crowns. Who wore crowns in this day and age? Their clothes looked like something straight out of a fairytale, as if they were cosplaying royalty. She blinked, trying to process what was happening. Before she could say anything, the woman rushed toward her, tears in her eyes and embraced her tightly. "Princess..." the woman sobbed. Princess? Yesha looked around, expecting to see someone else—maybe a cosplayer dressed like a princess. But there was no one. It was only the woman, holding her tightly, with a desperate longing in her embrace. Yesha blinked in confusion, her mouth slightly open in shock. What is going on? "Princess, thank goodness you're awake," the woman said through her tears. "No," Yesha replied, her voice thick with disbelief. "I should be dead. Where am I?" The man—who had been watching quietly—furrowed his brow. He looked deeply concerned, his gaze softening as the woman pulled back from her embrace. "You’ve been unconscious for three days," the man said gently. "We were so worried. You had no awareness of where you were." Yesha blinked again, still trying to make sense of it all. "Who are you?" The woman looked startled by the question, as if the answer should have been obvious. Before anyone could respond, Yesha’s gaze shifted to the doorway. Three men stepped inside—young men who walked with the air of royalty. Two of them were tall, serious, and wore expressions that hinted at a deeper emotion Yesha couldn’t quite place. The third, however, smiled at her kindly, and she could immediately tell he was the most relaxed of them all. One of the men, older than the others spoke first, his voice flat but tense. "What's wrong with her? She doesn't remember us," the man said, his concern evident in his eyes. Yesha felt a strange chill. They were acting like they knew her, but she had no idea who they were. The woman—who Yesha now realized must be the queen looked at her with a mix of worry and love. "Princess... you don’t remember? You are our daughter, Yesha Demonate Olixford, the Princess of Light Kingdom." Yesha's mind spun. Her real name... the name she had never known she had. But more than that, the mention of the Light Kingdom—what was this place? "How is this even possible?" Yesha murmured, still trying to understand. She had drowned, not been struck by a stone—yet here she was, alive and surrounded by people who seemed to believe she was royalty. The king and queen seemed to accept this confusion with gentle patience. As the doctor entered, his serious tone drew everyone’s attention. “She has temporary amnesia,” the doctor explained, flipping through his notes. “The injury she sustained caused significant damage to her memory, but it’s temporary. She will regain her memories soon.” Yesha couldn’t help but frown. Amnesia? That didn’t sound right. She wasn’t suffering from amnesia; she was certain she had drowned. There was no way she could have been hit by a stone. “I don’t have amnesia,” she said, her voice growing stronger. "Who are you people?" The king who had been silent for a moment finally spoke. “We are your parents, Princess. I am King Clyde Jhon Olixford, and this is your mother, Queen Elizabeth Olixford.” Yesha felt as though the world was spinning. The name felt familiar but also completely alien. And then something clicked. The surname... Olixford? Her name was Yesha Demonate Olixford? Was this some kind of sick joke? She looked at the two men who had been watching her closely. The older one, Kyle, still had an air of coldness about him. His serious demeanor only added to the growing tension in the room. The younger one, Drew, seemed more relaxed but no less intense. Kyle crossed his arms and spoke with a cold sneer. “She doesn’t remember us, but we know her. She’s pretending.” "Enough," the king said sharply, silencing Kyle with a single word. The queen seemed relieved when she heard the doctor’s diagnosis. "It’s just a temporary condition. She’ll remember soon." But Yesha wasn’t convinced. "What do you mean, ‘soon’? I don’t remember any of you. And what kind of name is Olixford? Who are you people really?" The tension in the room thickened, but the doctor spoke up once more. “Perhaps it’s best if we give her some time. She needs rest.” The queen still holding Yesha’s hand smiled gently. “Please, rest. You’ve been through a lot.” Yesha nodded stiffly, still processing everything. "Fine. I want some time alone." As everyone filed out, Yesha found herself lying back on the soft bed, staring up at the ceiling. She didn’t know who these people were or why they claimed to be her family. But one thing was clear: something strange was going on, and she needed answers.
