Chapter 4
Third Person
As Ed walks along, he can’t help but look at Yesha, his little sister walking ahead of him. He can’t stop staring at her. Part of him is still amazed—where did she get the confidence to say those things? And to Dark, the Campus President, no less! Everyone else is terrified of him.
And Kiera… Ed’s expression turns serious, his fists clenching slightly. Memories of what Kiera did to Yesha flood his mind. She’s the reason Yesha lost consciousness and had temporary amnesia.
"Kuya, what section am I in?"
"Huh?"
"What section am I in?"
He notices that she’s now facing him. "Uh," he clears his throat, realizing she still doesn’t remember.
"Little sis, remember how you didn’t want to be in Section Red because you wanted Section Pink? You’re also not allowed in our section."
"Section Pink?"
"The last section. Students who can’t harness their powers or don’t know how to fight are placed there. In this world, power determines status."
The academy groups students by color, and because his sister lacks powers and is different, Yesha was placed in Section Pink even though she’s royalty and a princess of a renowned kingdom. Sometimes, Ed can’t help but feel sorry for her.
"And what’s your section?" she asks again.
Ed gives a faint smile. "Section Red. That’s where the royalties are. Everyone there is powerful and skilled in combat. And… I have a feeling that the students chosen for the long journey might come from our section. You know what, little sis… Prince Dark is the most powerful of the royalties and on this campus because of his elemental powers. He’s a fire user. Fire is the most powerful of all the elements."
"Oh. Good for him," she responds with a lack of enthusiasm.
Ed didn’t expect that response. She really changed, huh? She’s no longer interested in Dark. Before, just hearing Dark’s name would make her blush and bombard him with questions about her ultimate crush. But now, she seems different.
They stop in front of the Section Pink room, and Yesha looks at Ed curiously. "Why are we at Section Pink?"
Ed’s eyebrows knit together. "Huh? Isn’t this your classroom, little sis? This is where you attend classes, of course," he says, tilting his head slightly.
"I was just asking about my old section. I didn’t mean I’d still go here."
"What do you mean?" She’s acting differently. I can’t even read her thoughts because of her emotionless expression.
"I’m also royalty with an honorable rank, Kuya Ed. Even if I’m not like other royalties, I still have the right to transfer to the section where I belong, right? I want to choose another section, Kuya. I want to transfer."
Ed is taken aback by her words, finally seeing Yesha embracing her role as a princess. She seems so determined and unstoppable. Ed feels proud of her.
"Of course, little sis. Just tell me where you want to be."
Yesha then smirks, making him pause for a moment when he sees that kind of smile.
"Section Red," Yesha simply says, her smile unwavering.
Ed nods again, but he suddenly stops, realizing what she said. Wait? Section Red?
"W-wait… S-Section Red?! You can’t go there! Kiera, Dark, and others are there! You might get bullied, Yesha," he warns, worried about what might happen to his sister.
Instead of being afraid, she just gives him a mischievous smile. "I’ll be fine, Kuya Ed."
Ed takes a step back. He’s starting to fear his sister’s intentions. "For what reason, Yesha? I don’t want you getting hurt, but if you really want this, give me a valid reason."
"Like you said earlier, I also feel that all the students chosen for the long journey might be from Section Red. It would be an honor if I could be one of them," Yesha says with a serious expression. "It’s a privilege to be chosen as a Guardian. I want it badly. I want to learn more about my abilities."
"Yesha…" Ed looks at his sister, unable to believe what he just heard. He closes his eyes, swallowing hard, before taking a deep breath. He smiles and looks at her. "Your determination makes me proud. You deserve to be in Section Red, little sis."
He has no choice but to allow her, though he’s seriously worried about what might happen next.
Kiera is a bully as the new campus queen bee who replaced Yesha, and especially Dark is a bully. He’s worried that they might gang up on her.
Everyone weak who joins Section Red doesn’t leave without bruises. Ed has seen many beaten down. The students in Section Red do everything to drive out anyone who tries to transfer from other sections. And he has a feeling Yesha might be one of those who’ll leave with bruises. But Ed won’t let that happen. He’ll protect her no matter what.
He clenches his fists as they start walking, finally standing in front of the red door.
Ed’s heart races. He stares at the red door. He’s about to open it when Yesha suddenly kicks it. All he hears next is a loud bang and gasps from the professor and the people inside.
"What was that?!" the professor exclaims, shocked.
Ed watches her. She strides in like a queen who’ll punish anyone who stands in her way.
She stops at the front, looking at each of her new classmates. The atmosphere is silent. Shock is still evident. There are whispers and murmurs.
The way she kicked the door was so cool! Ed thoughts.
"Miss?" the professor asks, looking disturbed.
Yesha glances at him with a cold gaze. "Sorry for the inconvenience, professor, but I have business here to deal with," she says flatly, turning back to look as if searching for someone.
"Why are you here in Section Red?" the professor asks meaningfully.
Yesha ignores the question, still looking around.
"Uh, professor. My little sis is transferring to Section Red. I’ll submit her card to the Dean’s office later for this matter," Ed says with a smile, observing Section Red’s reaction.
Everyone is shocked by his statement. Ed notices Kiera sneaking an evil smile, as if she’s planning something sinister.
Tsk. Try to harm my sister, and I might lose control. Even if my brothers are on your side, Kiera.
"This is the gate of hell. You look lost."
Yesha’s gaze shifts to Dark as he speaks in a cold and serious tone.
Ed starts to worry, feeling nervous. "I can handle Kiera, but Dark… okay, let’s go back to Kiera," he mutters softly, gripping the bag on his shoulder tightly.
Everyone knows Prince Dark is the most powerful in Enchant School. The Fire Kingdom, led by the Hirari Smiths, Dark’s parents, is the strongest kingdom in the Enchanted Kingdom. It’s no surprise that their son, Dark, is recognized as the Campus President at Enchant School.
He also leads Section Red, ranked number 1. Their section is known as the strongest where high-ranking immortals belong.
Ed feels a chill at Dark’s threat toward his sister. He remembers the day a transfer student joined Section Red, only to leave in tears within minutes. They couldn’t handle the treatment from Section Red where hurting others is almost sport.
This is why Ed didn’t want his sister to transfer.
It’s said that even professors fear this section. Few enter the room unless they have to. Like now, after this, it’s free time because no one dares to come in here. Besides being powerful, Section Red is full of highly intelligent individuals. Their intellect has made them arrogant and proud.
"Uh, class dismissed." The professor walks out.
See? Ed shakes his head.
He looks back at his little sister, Yesha, who’s gazing at Dark with a cold, emotionless look in her eyes—a look Ed hasn’t seen before. It’s as if she’s a different person, not the Yesha he knows.
Yesha smiles, almost like a smile from someone straight out of hell which Dark meets with a serious gaze. They stare at each other, almost as if having a silent conversation.
"I’ve been there. Showering in bullets."
People around her furrow their brows at her words.
"Whoa! I can’t believe the bravery of this pretty girl in front of us, huh," Leo suddenly said.
"She’s on fire, bro," Michael added, looking at Yesha in awe.
