Best Enemy

Chapter 3 Third Person Yesha couldn’t shake off everything her brother Ed had shared. There was a strange feeling wrapping around her as she recalled his words. “Let’s be a good example here in the Academy, little sis.” Ed’s back was facing her as he walked ahead, but he turned and flashed her a smile. “Let’s do our best. And if possible, let’s avoid any trouble.” Yesha scanned their surroundings seriously. “Trouble is everywhere, Kuya Ed. If I were the Goddess, I wouldn’t let this Academy exist.” Everyone nearby stopped in their tracks, visibly shocked and nearly choking on their food. Conversations turned to whispers, filling the air with unease. The Academy, often hailed as the school of the future for the Enchanted world, was actually a place riddled with corruption. Power reigned supreme, and those who were weak suffered. The reality inside its walls was far from its pristine outer appearance. Yesha could sense the shifting reactions around her, and Ed, too, paused, caught off guard by her sudden statement. “It’s disgraceful to have a student like you here. Talking like that—who do you think you are?” A sharp voice broke the silence. Yesha tightened her grip on her shoulder bag, turning slowly to face the person who’d spoken. The surrounding chatter died instantly as every eye turned her way. A woman stood before her, dressed in a sleek black uniform, with vibrant purple hair and striking red lips. Yesha held her ground, radiating confidence as she recognized the girl standing before her, who was now staring back with a frown, looking both surprised and annoyed. "Is that Yesha? Wow, she’s actually beautiful!" "She looks better without makeup." "It’s a shame though... she’s so desperate and was a bully." "OMG! Is that really her?" “Didn’t anyone teach you not to butt into conversations?” Yesha met the girl’s gaze, matching her hostile stare with one of her own. “Actually, the Academy itself isn’t the issue. And yeah, you’re right—the students here are the real problem. Like stubborn stains that just don’t come off, no matter how hard you scrub.” She eyed the girl from head to toe. “Oh, still alive, are we?” The girl finally recognized her, a smirk slipping across her face. “Yes, so you’ll have to cancel that celebration, Ms. Kiera.” Yesha suddenly recalled the information her friend Blossom had shared with her. "Kiera Villasion. She possesses the power of illusion, from Ilony Kingdom. A princess in disguise. She may look like royalty, but she’s ruthless on the inside. Be careful around her, Yesha. She’s one of the royals. I’ve heard she’s powerful." “And speaking of celebrations, where are you off to, Kiera?” Yesha taunted. Kiera raised an eyebrow. “What are you getting at?” “Oh, I just thought you might be headed to the clinic. With all that makeup, you’re the one who looks sickly between the two of us.” Yesha grinned as she saw Kiera’s face flush with barely contained anger while the students around them began to murmur. “How dare you!” “What’s wrong? I’m just describing what I see.” Yesha looked Kiera up and down, smirking. “You—” “What’s going on here?” a voice interrupted. Kiera immediately seized the arm of the newcomer, but the gesture didn’t escape Yesha’s attention. Yesha turned to look at the young man who had just arrived, and for a moment, she froze. His face looks like it was carved by the gods. A perfectly chiseled jawline, thick black brows that suited his serious, emotionless expression, dark intense eyes that found hers immediately, a defined nose, and striking red lips… Now I understand why the old Yesha was so desperate for his attention! Yesha’s gaze drifted to his uniform, which highlighted his muscular frame, as if he’d been trained for combat with no hint of softness. One hand rested in his pocket as he looked at her with a bored expression. What’s his name again? “Kuya Kyle, Kuya Drew, she’s bullying me again,” Kiera whined, pulling closer to the young men. “She insulted me and our school! She deserves a punishment!” Yesha rolled her eyes openly, her face setting into a serious expression, which caused those around her to grow silent. “I didn’t realize you were calling my brothers ‘Kuya’ now. When did they adopt you?” Yesha said, sarcasm dripping from her tone. “Too bad though, our stables are full. No more room for extra horses.” “See, she’s bullying me!” Kiera shot Drew and Kyle a wounded look, surprised by Yesha’s comeback. It was new to them, and her expression soured further as nearby students stifled their laughter. “How many times have I told you, Yesha?” Drew looked at her harshly. “Stop bullying Kiera.” “She started it, Kuya Drew,” Ed spoke up, stepping forward to defend Yesha. “From you?” Kyle interjected. “You’re always on her side. Instead of setting her straight, you keep enabling her.” “That’s not how Yesha is,” Ed replied firmly. “We know her well, Ed. Rude and shameless. Desperate, weak, and always seeking attention.” “Kyle.” Drew reached out to stop Kyle as others stepped forward. “You’re crossing a line, Kuya,” Ed’s calm tone shifted to one of anger. “Yesha, don’t.” Ed stepped forward as if to protect her, but Yesha had already moved, standing firmly before Kiera with a taunting smile. “Kuya Kyle, Kuya Drew, please keep an eye on your horse. If it goes out of sight, I might slaughter it.” The students around them gasped, while Kiera cried out in fury. “Kiera, enough.” “She’s threatening me!” Kiera shouted, looking desperately at Drew. Ed tried to step closer to Yesha, but he paused when he heard a low voice. “First warning.” Yesha turned calmly to the one who’d spoken, the murmurs around them buzzing like bees. "Oh, gosh! She got her first warning from the President!" "Wow. Surprisingly, Yesha didn’t flirt with the Pres earlier." "Yeah, that’s different." "Why’d he give her a warning, though?" "Are you serious? She just insulted Kiera." "But Kiera started it, didn’t she?" Yesha looked at the man who’d given her the warning. So, he’s the Campus President. And the longtime crush of the old Yesha. Running a hand through her hair, Yesha glanced sideways, then met his gaze with a slight smirk. He’s impulsive with his decisions, she thought, undeterred by the way his eyes seemed to pierce through her. “You’ve got six senses—try to use them properly. Don’t be blind or deaf to what’s really going on.” She looked at Kiera, whose eyes widened with fury. “Have a good day.” With that, she turned and walked away, her stride as confident as a queen who owned the path. “She’s really getting on my nerves!” Kiera seethed, her fists clenched. She looked to the man who still stood there, his gaze fixed on the spot where Yesha had left. A smile crept onto her face as she noticed his clenched fist. Good, she thought, at least he hates her too.
