A Visit I Can't Forget

1238 Words
Ava As I sat in the ground behind bars, my world collapsed, I began to remember all that had happened these past few hours. I began comparing it to the three long years of dedication I gave to him. Tyler and I had been married for three years, we weren't perfect but we were happy. For some reason I kept on having miscarriages but he didn't care, he loved me more and still showered me with love. He was a business man although he had some issues in his business but I still stood by his side, I still loved him. He told me he had a contract, a huge one worth over $300,000,000. This was going to change his life, our life or so I thought but that all ended the moment I saw him on top of my best friend in my matrimonial bed. My whole life had been a scam, a facade. How would I face the world now? That wasn't the worst part of it all. If I had known what was coming next, I would have prepared myself even better. A commissioner, a friend of my dad's, walked over to me. “Miss Ava” he called out to me, his voice was maybe even worried. “I know that you are innocent, trust me I believe you are, but the social media says otherwise” he said to me, his voice still sounding worried. I was confused, I wasn't understanding anything. I stood up, wiped my tears and walked over to him. I didn't have to say a thing, he pulled out his phone and played some videos for me. I had thought my life was over, but this, this was far worse than anything I could imagine. I couldn't hold back my tears, they involuntarily rushed out my eyes seeking escape like criminals breaking out of jail. What I saw horrified me. My name was on all social media pages. Various blogs, various creators were calling me names, pointing finger, they were calling me a heartless mother who couldn't let her own children even be born into the world. I knew these claims were false, I knew they were fabricated stories but how could I prove it. I was behind bars so it wasn't even possible. He walked away in order not to get noticed by the other officers. I fell down on my knees bowing me head in shame and agony, I couldn't face the world again not after this. I was still in my state of pain and agony when a shadow suddenly covered my helpless self. Everywhere became dark at least to me. I looked up and it was someone I didn't expect to be here, the least person I expected to visit me. It was Juliet. She walked in, moving closer and closer towards me. I stood up instantly rushing towards her. I angrily tried to pull her hair but she pulled herself back and began laughing uncontrollably at least for a while. “I won't do that if I were you, I mean you are already charged with continuous deliberate abortion and harassment, would you also like to be charged with attempted murder of a mother and her unborn child?” She asked when she finally couldn't laugh anymore. I realized that she was right. All eyes were on me as if waiting for me to make a mistake or make a fool of myself at best. “Why are you doing this?” I asked her trying to get answers. What made her change so much? We grew up together, loved one another, so what changed. “That's simple. I want what you have. I want this wealth, this man, this family, I want it all” she replied coldly, eyes filled with envy as a snug smile grew on her face. “And guess what? I have it and it's all thanks to you”. “What, what do you mean?” I tried to get an answer as I was surprised at she giving me credit for my downfall. “Simple, you were so gullible, telling me all your secrets, listening to me, letting me into your family. Did you really think that was a safe thing to do” she asked, her voice sharp and clear. “You were my best friend” I said, trying to smile. “You were a fool” she immediately cut me off. “A gullible one at that” she continued. No remorse, no fear, just thus sharp and straight forward voice that threw me off balance. I pulled back. Maybe I was. Maybe she was right. I was a fool. I was such a big one at that. “But, I gave come here to give you an alternative. I have come to strike a deal with you that's if you are willing” she said, as always a smirk grew on her face. I hesitated to ask at first, but curiosity got the better of me. “What's that?” I asked finally submitting to her demand. “I'll withdraw my charges on you, clear your name and let them release you from this God forsaken jail but for that to happen you'll have to sign these divorce papers and free yourself from this marriage that you hold so dearly” she said, pulling out a pen and some papers. At this point I was helpless and alone. I couldn't stay back in this jail and I couldn't go back to Tyler nor my stepmom or dad. The only way I could save myself and clear my name was to trust Juliet and sign those papers, but could I trust her? Could I put my faith in her once more? I had to, it was my only way of getting out of here. Without a second thought or hesitation, I grabbed the papers from her hands, moved away from her and signed them, tears welling down my eyes as I did, everything I left behind suddenly appearing like flashes on my mind. Juliet smiled, signalling the officer to release me. He opened the gates letting me out, I didn't waste time, I got out immediately. I tossed the papers at her, wiping the tears on my face as I did. I walked out the door, no one stopped me if anything they all stared at me disgusted at the sight of me. I walked for a long time, hiding my face in shame. No plans for the future, nowhere to go, nothing to do. I wanted to give up. I was ready to do just that. Suddenly, with the speed of cheetah a car ran over me. I felt this was God answering my prayer, maybe he wanted me to die and get rid of the pain I felt. I was ready to die, at least I would die now rather than facing the shame that followed. That was what I thought, but God had other plans. My vision became blurry, but I could see it clearly. A man, a strong figure coming closer and closer and… I collapsed. Was this my end? Was this the end of the road for me? I hope it is, I hope I could see my mum again at least then I'd be happy. But was this what God wanted? Was I really destined to die?
