Amaan's first day of school came. His mother woke him up at 6 o'clock in the morning. His uniform and his bag were kept ready from the night before.
As she initiated to dress him up in the uniform, he tried to resist it because he was not in the mood for going to school, but finally she succeeded in her task after a few minutes.
Then he sat in front of the television, watching his favourite cartoon while she combed his hair neat, helped him wear shoes and fed him breakfast. He just chewed his breakfast, not paying attention to what she was doing to him.
A few minutes passed, he stood up and found himself very neat and tidy as he looked in the mirror. She hung his water bottle it in his neck. He looked so nice and decent like a mummy's boy. Now he was all ready to go to school. But he still did not agree to go there.
But when he came to know that both his parents would go along with him, he became excited to go. After they got seated in the car, both of them started telling him about the school. They told him that there would be many kids just like him and he might make new friends.
He listened everything with quite an interest. Further, they told him to respect all the teachers and not to be scared of them. It would just be a matter of a few hours and after that they would come to the school to take him back home. After hearing all this, Amaan agreed and finally accepted to go to school.
When they reached the school, Amaan still did not have the courage to leave behind his mom and dad. His parents noticed this and stepped out of the car, opened the door for him and asked him very politely to come out. When he saw the smiles on their faces, he came out. They knew that he was nervous so both of them went inside with him. They went to his classroom and His mother even went inside the class to calm her little son down.
She sat next to him on a little seat just like his. She told him things about the school as she wanted him to adapt to it. She kept sitting with him until the morning bell rang. And when the bell rang, she got up, kissed him on his forehead and left the classroom when she finally saw him smile.
The teacher came in after two minutes his mother left. She told everyone to stand up and wish her 'good morning' as it was everyone else's first day of school too. She was so nice to everyone. at first, Amaan feared the teacher, but his fear faded away after some time; as the teacher called his name, he got up nervously and went to her. He stood beside her, looking at her face nervously. Then she asked him his name and the names of his parents. He answered to everything she asked sincerely. Then she smiled at him and told him to back to his seat. So he did.
Now it was the lunch time. Everyone took out their different types of lunch boxes and so did Amaan, because his mother had already told him about the lunch break and what to do in it. Then everyone started eating their lunches. A boy who was sitting next to Amaan was looking at him while he was eating his lunch. When Amaan noticed, he looked away. Amaan thought that he wanted to have his lunch too. Then he remembered that his father had told him to share his things with other people. So he stretched out his hand, towards the boy holding his lunch box to offer his sandwich to him. At first, the boy thought for a second, then he took a piece of it hesitatingly. The boy had noodles for lunch and then he offered them to Amaan. But Amaan refused to take it because he was told that noodles are not good for health. But the boy insisted, so he ate a little. Then the boy gave him a sweet smile.
So now Amaan made a friend. They both started talking to each other and kept talking throughout the day. But they also paid attention to everything that all their teachers taught them. Then the school was over after a few hours.
All the children were asked to come out of their classes and wait for their guardians to take them home. When Amaan came out of his classroom, he saw both of his parents already standing and waiting for him. He gave a big smile when he saw them; he ran towards them and hugged them both. Then the family went back to their car and got seated to go back home. His mother was going to ask him about his day at school and within no time, he started telling her about it before she could even speak. Then she smiled and listened to everything he said. He told her about how the teacher asked him to come and asked his name, about the lunch break and all the things he studied about. In short, he told her every little detail about what happened there. She kept nodding while she listened, to show her interest. She was happy to see her little kid telling his first life experience to his parents.
Everyday, both of his parents dropped him to school and picked him up. They always reached there before the school time was over. Amaan always came running towards them and hugged them daily after school. But at school, Amaan felt nervous and could not adapt to its environment quickly. He always went there without his consent, waited for the school to be over and became happy when it did. Then he used to come back home happily with his parents. He had a hard time inhabiting the environment of the school, because of the little social anxiety left within him.
This routine continued for some days. But he slowly started to get used to going to school because his parents helped him everyday to overcome his fear and become a little more extroverted.
After a month, he finally adapted the environment of the school and also paid attention to what he studied. When he came home, his mother helped him revise everything that he studied in the school. He found studying interesting so he became very good at it. Maths became his favourite subject, he was very good at it too. All his teachers started praising him. They also used him as an example for the other kids.
Now Amaan's name had come in the best students of the school, as he got good marks in his examinations and as his mother always sent him in very neat and tidy clothes. He looked so decent and he kept his tidiness till the end of the day at school. She also used to keep a handkerchief in his pocket for he always had runny nose.
Every mother sends her child neat and tidy; but what children do is that they don't maintain their cleanliness and appearance as they are sent to school in the morning; they make themselves dirty and change their look completely till the afternoon, when they go back to their homes. So, their mothers must tell them that they should at least try to maintain their cleanliness as much as they can.
And Amaan always maintained his cleanliness; this is also why he was always recognised by his teachers.
After a great year at school, he got promoted to first grade and everything remained as good as it was earlier.
In fact, he became more and more social and made many friends. Everyone started to like him a lot. He was now known to all the teachers. He was a decent, studious and a good boy. His second grade went the same too.
Then he passed to the third grade, he became a sensible boy who knew the difference between the right and wrong for his age. His neatness remained the same and he also got a cleanliness certificate for obviously, his cleanliness.
When students get promoted into higher classes, they start to think that they have grown up. So this gives them the idea of acting and behaving as what they see their adults do. Sometimes, this leads to misbehaving to their elders and and they start to embrace bad habits- for their age.
The children of Amaan's age thought in their little minds that they had become grown ups too.
Amaan had made several friends then. But some of them were not just like him. They had different friend circles outside of the school, and those circles were not considered good for a good child to have a company with.
One day at school, during the lunch break, everyone was eating their lunches and so was Amaan. He was sitting with a group of his friends in their classroom.
In their school, the friends used to sit together to have their lunches.
They all were talking and enjoying one another's company.
While talking, one of the boys used a swear word in between of his conversation. The 'cursing words' were new to their age. Amaan knew about swearing as his father had already told him about it, obviously that it bad and one must not say such words.
He heard what his friend said and looked at his face, but didn't say anything. After that, another boy used a different abusive word. Amaan listened to everything with full concern. This way of talking was new to him.
Now what would be Amaan's reaction to what his friends said? Would he stop them? Or would he get interested in their way of talking?
