Maximillion's Desire

446 Words
I’m watching the snow fall outside the window of my English class, doing my best to ignore Mr. Jacobs drowning on about yet another book he believes will change the lives of dragons. Who is he to decide what’s best for us? He’s a norm. A human. He couldn’t begin to know what’s best for us. “Prince Max?” I sighed. Yes, Mr. Jacobs. “Do I need to call King Dracos again?” he says, pushing his wide-rimmed glasses back onto his face. “No sir,” I reply, “Well, pay attention. Don’t make me repeat myself.” This human is pushing it; he thinks that because my father respects him, I respect him. I don’t care that he’s human, but he’s a kiss-ass. I’m Maximillion of Draconia, Prince Max, as some call me. I’m 17 years old, but my birthday is next week. I can't wait to see which of these babes will be my future queen. I was knocked out of my daydream by the sound of raised voices. “Oh hell, it’s Rossi.” Said Jenn. “What’s she going on about now?” someone murmured. Lauren Rossi, I mused, the hottest girl in school, a powerful witch, and my long-time crush, who hates most of my kind. Some of the students clamored into the halls to see what was happening. I could hear some of the other shifters whispering things like “witch b***h,” “crazy Rossi,” and worst of all, “daddy’s broken defender.” I growled loudly and halted all the noise when I heard that last comment. All shifters knew the story of Knight Rossi. The witch that died trying to protect his wife and child from Kane, my father’s right hand, who is mated to Lauren’s mother, Tabitha. They also know Mr. Rossi's death is why Lauren hates our kind. I snap out of my daydream to see that everyone is staring. Shifters are frozen, awaiting my response, and Lauren and her friend, Ruby, are staring at me with eyes wide. I look at Lauren and notice her breath catches and her lips slightly parted. What I wouldn’t give to kiss her, to see her beneath me while I pleasure her. “Mmhmm”. I hear my right hand, Bradley, clear his throat. “Max, what would you like to do?” he whispers. “Get back to class”. I growl, watch the shifters nod, and return to their classes. I turn to Lauren, and she’s gone. I look around, but the halls are empty. “Where did she go,” I wonder as I return to Mr. Jacob's class.
