Chapter 10
Mandy sat on the couch with bloodshot eyes and tearstained cheeks.
“Do you want a cuppa?” I called from the kitchen as I flicked on the kettle.
“Nah, I’m ‘right.” Mandy raised her hand, displaying a half-empty vodka premix.
At ten am on a Sunday morning? Okay then. I carried my steaming cup of coffee to the lounge room and sat beside her.
“What happened?” I took a sip, then placed my mug on the coffee table beside several empty glass bottles. Urgh. The thought of drinking something that sweet made my teeth hurt.
“Austin dumped me.” Mandy choked out.
“Oh, sweetie.”
“I know I said I was just looking for some fun and we only dated for six weeks, but I really liked him.”
“Where’s Rachael?” I thought she’d be here for a crisis like this.
