Melissa adjusted her backpack. She was tired and very hungry. Her whole body ached but she was reassured she would soon rest because she is close to her destination.
She had fled for her life when she had found out Donald’s plan.
The bastard her father had chosen to be her mate as the requirement for him to name her his heir and next alpha of the blood moon pack had planned to assassinate her then marry his chosen mate.
She couldn’t go to her father with what she had overheard because she knew how much he hated her. He had blamed her for her elder brother’s death ten years ago and has never ceased to let her know that he wished she had been the one who had died then and not her brother. Her pack members didn’t like her as they too blamed her for her brother’s death and would hardly miss her if she was gone so she had done what she would have done a long time ago. She had packed her bag and left the pack two days to her supposed wedding, with only one destination in mind. She had thought that her leaving would make her father happy.
She must have been wrong.
He had sent scouts after her which she had taken down and fled. She had wounded them just right to make sure they are delayed from pursuing her and give her enough time to get away enough to reach her destination where she knew they would never dare to get close not to talk of cross to follow her.
She knew she would be in a dangerous zone but she was sure she would be safer there. Her plan was to sneak in and maneuver her way to the alpha. From the little she remembered of him from their brief but painful encounter she knew her plan was set for doom yet it was her safest.
She stopped as she knew she heard something. Her hearing was better than most and her sense of smell was more heightened than normal and if her father had accepted, she would have trained to be a tracker but he had preferred her locked up, insisting it was the best way for them to keep her from causing further harm to the pack.
She had tried to train herself from the books her cousin Idris had given to her before he had been killed in a fight. He had been her only friend and comforter and the only person in the pack who didn’t seem to hate her or blame her for her brother’s death. He had also been the only person who had listened to her story and had actually believed her but he had died two months ago and she had finally given up and had decided to leave the pack and here she was.
She turned and scanned the area for any intruder but couldn’t sense anything and she knew why.
She wasn’t concentrating and was in panic. She gulped in large chunk of air, held and release the air like Idris had taught her then she closed her eyes and focused. She waited for few seconds then she heard the sound. It was distant but she couldn’t mistake the sound.
They were footsteps of people running.
She concentrated more and counted; one, two, three, four and five. Five of the warriors she had beaten earlier. They had gained up on her faster than she had imagined. She had to hurry so she could get to her destination where she knew she will be safe from them even though she will be in another danger but that danger is safer than the one she is currently faced with.
She laughed in spite of her situation. 'How can one danger be safer than another danger?'
She could not get their scent yet so they were not so close to her. She picked up her pace and began to run. She used her hands to wade off leaves and branches as she ran. She was using her normal human speed. She didn’t want to use her wolf speed as that will give off more of her scent and tell her pursuers where exactly she was.
She ran with all her might knowing she was close to the border. She turned and saw that they were gaining in on her. She began to panic and knew she was out of options. She had to use her wolf strength and she prayed the border patrolmen will not notice her presence before she could mask her scent again.
She closed her eyes as she ran and called on Hitler.
Hitler didn’t waste any time. She had been waiting for Melissa to call on her from the moment she had decided to run away.
She came out in full speed, ready as she was. She ran with all her might and before they could gain in on her she was across the border.
She leaped for joy knowing she was safe when she saw the blood moon warriors come to a halt when they saw the territory she had entered. They could not follow her in not if they loved their lives.
She saw the defeat on their faces just before she turned and moved further into the crescent moon territory.
She had sent Hitler away as soon as she had crossed the border and had proceeded to mask her scent hopefully no one had taken note of her invasion.
She adjusted her backpack and pushed her hair behind her ears and walked deep into the forest making sure she left no tracks behind to avoid being followed.
She heard some noises and looked at the direction to see two werewolves. They were possibly the border patrolmen. She turned and tried to find a place to hide.
She found a perfect spot between two trees standing close together. She tried to bend down to creep to the spot when she felt a sting on her neck.
She knew before she lost consciousness that she had been caught and there was only one card she had to play to get out of this mess alive.

"WHERE IS SHE?" Maxwell bellowed when he saw the five warriors, he had sent returning without his daughter.
All five of them stood silent, scared of their alpha’s next action. He was known to be a brutal and fierce leader.
He paced in front of them, his palms balled into a fist by his side. "How could five strong and well-trained warriors lose a tiny, weak, untrained young girl? If you can’t do such a simple task then why call yourself the blood moon warriors," he shouted.
"We are sorry alpha," Frank the leader of the team apologized. "She ran into the crescent moon border and we couldn’t go after her. She is as good as dead."
"That’s precisely the problem," Maxwell said turning to him. "I want my daughter back here for her wedding alive not dead. You should have chased after her and brought her back."
He was very annoyed at the turn of events.
"We are very sorry alpha."
"I don’t want your stupid apology. All I want is my daughter. You should come up with a plan to withdraw her out of that territory. Find a way," he commanded.
"You are dismissed incompetent fools," he rebuffed them then he turned and walked to his seat.
He couldn’t understand why she had chosen to run away now that he was so close to accomplishing his plans and to the crescent moon pack at that.
He shook his head in denial. She couldn’t have known the truth. She couldn’t have gone there because she had found out.
No one here except him and his wife knew the truth.
Leah had died giving birth to that b***h so no one could have possibly told her.
Maybe she fled there knowing it was the only territory they wouldn’t cross if they loved their life.
He stamped his fist on the table. He was so close and he wouldn’t give up. She would marry Donald.
Dead or alive.
