Sterling Law Firm…
"Please get me all the files I need for the meeting inside my office." Adelia instructed her secretary and walked towards her office.
She abruptly stopped walking, turned to secretary Anne and added, "Oh and tell Nelson that I want every single detail about a man named Oscar JB on my desk right away!"
Secretary Anne’s heart almost popped out looking at that gloomy face of her boss. She wondered when would come a time that their cold CEO Lawyer would give a smile even once.
She immediately dialed assistant Bertha’s number in her phone while typing on her laptop to search for the man named Oscar JB. Then she relayed Adelia’s instruction to Attorney Nelson.
"OMG!!!" she gasped, mouth agape as she watched the video she clicked.
Meanwhile, Adelia was still fuming with embarrassment. Never in her entire life had she imagined herself in that situation.
She rested her head comfortably on her chair and closed her eyes to calm herself.
"Hah! Sue me? Does he think it would be that easy for him? Do you think I would go easy on you like that?" She hissed, with eyes still shut.
'How could that man talk to me like that, how dare he want to sue me like that? How dare he! I, Adelia Sterling will handle him,’ she mused.
She unconsciously touched her lips while the entire kissing scene replayed in her head.
Adelia cursed, still annoyed at the discomfort that man caused her.
Adelia got startled in her somber state when the door opened and Bertha barged in.
"What happened?" Bertha exclaimed, still panting as she rushed back into the office upon receiving Anne’s call and notice.
Adelia opened her eyes and stared at her blankly.
"Are you done with yelling? and... I'm not in the mood for story telling," Adelia plainly responded.
Bertha took a seat on the couch and took a while to calm her breath after running back in the office.
After a while she started, "Adelia! Your grandfather will kill me! Why did you kiss another man instead of your date!" Bertha hissed Anne had already briefed her about the trending video.
Adelia stared at her with her sharp gaze and Bertha felt the pressure around her dropping down. Adelia was already fuming with anger and her words fanned the flames further high.
She waited in vain for an answer from Adelia and suddenly jumped up when the loud tone of her mobile ringing pierced the silence of the room. Bertha’s face paled when she saw the caller ID.
Adelia could easily guess the caller and so she commanded Bertha, "Answer it and tell him that i will explain everything later.”
Her grandfather was constantly calling her for a long while before she called Bertha and she did not bother to answer him, but Bertha must answer that call.
Bertha nodded and answered the phone. "I understand grandpa Thompson... Yes she’s here. Right in front of me. Yes... okay... I will tell her that."
The call ended and Bertha exhaled a heavy sigh before speaking, "Your grandfather, he wants me to tell you that he is very proud of you and he is now crying out of joy. He wants you to bring the man over this weekend to meet him and he insisted that don't let him down this time. And..."
Bertha hung her words, hesitation crossed her face.
Adelia frowned and asked, "What?"
Bertha pressed her lips together, raising her brows and trying hard to control her laughter, she revealed, "Well, he said -'Good job you SAVAGE brat! I'm so proud of you! That's how a Sterling should do things!-"
Adelia almost choked on her own saliva hearing that.
"What does he mean by this? Why is he saying this? That man even wants to sent me an harassment notice and he wants to see him! Go and file a harassment case on that man now!" Adelia burst out.
Bertha did not know how she should react with the revelation.
'Adelia Sterling being sued?! Is she kidding me?' She silently babbled. Obvious disbelief was all over her face that made Adelia’s lips draw back in a snarl.
"What? You don't believe me? Why are you giving me that look? Bertha, that man wants to sue me despite how I explained the situation to him.”
Bertha’s eyebrows rose, with a smug face, she enthusiastically replied, “I am proud of you, Bestie!”
Bertha paused, Sue? Adelia’s words came back to her, she had watched the complete video that Anne sent her, before running back to the office and she still could not believe that it was actually Adelia in the video. But that kiss also did not look like Adelia and harassed the man. From any angle, the man was equally engrossed in the whole act and was kissing her back with the same passion as a boyfriend would...
Well... Almost...
No wonder Grandpa Thompson was on cloud nine after watching that video. The thought of his granddaughter being in a relationship with a man was the most precious gift for him in this lifetime.
"What Bertha? Say it dammit...unless what?" Bertha heard Adelia croak.
"For real Bestie? You are right but also if you want the truth and want me to say the obvious? Of course it won't last that long unless you enjoyed that kiss..." Bertha grunted.
Adelia's face paled while her jaw clenched. She was speechless... Finding the right words to defend herself.
Bertha grinned. Adelia Sterling is speechless?'
"Bertha, the situation was really awkward at that moment. I needed help and he was right there, okay Adelia defended.
"Yeah right. I bet you were ONLY needing him for a while..." Bertha teased.
"I won't let that man off, Bertha. I will file a harassment case against him as well but I will be the one who will send him and make sure he will rot in jail." Adelia mumbled.
“What? Aren’t you the one that did it? The only solution is to find him and compensate him.” Bertha sighed as it was the truth.
“I make sure he rots in jail!”
"What for? You're overreacting too much Bestie . Didn't you hear what I said? Your grandfather is happy and he wants to meet him. Why not take this opportunity instead? This is actually a good opportunity for you to stop your Grandpa Thompson from arranging anymore blind dates for you." Bertha continued as she divulged her ideas to Adelia.
They were interrupted when Anne informed Adelia on the intercon that Nelson wanted to talk to her. "Let him in..." Adelia answered.
"What did you find out for me?" Adelia, with brows snapped together at Nelson, asked.
"It's now trending..." Attorney. Nelson stated. He moved his eyeglass and gave assistant Bertha a meaningful gaze.
"For goodness sake I'm here you know..." Adelia blankly murmured.
The man adjusting his tie before speaking, "Well the kiss is trending... Best kiss... Hot kiss..." Attorney. Nelson continued explaining, but paused feeling the sharp daggers thrown towards her from Adelia.
Nelson straightened his back and looked at his tablet to begin reading. "Oscar JB…”
Adelia was in a good mood after Nelson began saying out the man’s bio but then…
“Boss, nothing much was found on him. But just that he …”
"What?" Adelia and Bertha replied in chorus. Hearing the word ‘nothing’.
"Stop! That's enough... Just send all these details to me..." Adelia snorted.
Adelia dismissed Nelson but the latter did not leave, giving an awkward look to Adelia and Bertha...
"What else Nelson?" Bertha was the one who asked.
"Oscar JB is one of our incoming lawyers..." Nelson informed them with a half timid smile.
"What?!" Another word in the chorus from Adelia and Bertha was heard.
