I couldn’t focus. Rebecca fidgeted beside me, clearly uncomfortable, yet she kept insisting she was fine. What frustrated me even more was the vacant look in her eyes—like she didn’t even recognize the people in front of us.
That made me furious.
“Alpha, we understand your concerns, but please, show some leniency. It was a minor mistake,” Elder Williams said calmly, as if we weren’t discussing the near-death of someone carrying the pack’s heir.
“A minor mistake?” My voice was a low growl. “Almost killing someone is a minor mistake?”
“Yes, but it was unavoidable. They were merely trying to question—” Elder Williams hesitated, eyes flicking toward Rebecca.
A deep growl erupted from my chest. He got the message.
“They were only trying to get information about a traitor,” he finish
