Chapter 5 Time to Inform

Dominic's POV

I wake up with a pep in my step... I found my mate and I have to get ready to go see her again... But I need to call my father and inform him about everything discovered so far before I can do that. I sit up in my bed, grab my phone, and dial my father's cell phone number. It rings once, and he picks it up instantly.

"Hey Dom, how are things going over there?" My father asks without hesitation because he knows I'm all business when it comes to calling him... I don't just lollygag calling to chat, I call to inform him about anything and everything.

"Hey, dad I have a lot to talk about if you have a minute to spare," I ask him cautiously because I know as the Alpha of our huge pack, he doesn't always have a whole lot of time to spare. "Of course, Dom.. lay it on me son," he responds without hesitation, so I let out a huge breath before I can start.

"Ok so when we arrived at the open and big property.. it doesn't look well taken care of and neither does the outside of the pack house... The inside looks way better than the outside for sure though... The pack isn't very big at all, they have a whole bunch of extra rooms, so I don't know if that's because their pack has always been small on a big property or because of the missing people we heard about... Their training is awesome... Their head warrior is someone I really can respect. He has a good head on his shoulders and I think is my best bet of earning trust and getting information out of him just because of the love and passion he has for his pack... I helped them with their border patrols and gave suggestions for their training, but not much because it's that good. Just a small amount of warriors because they only allowed the men to fight, but I told them to include the women because of how much they could help, so they agreed... There are only a couple extra rooms I didn't get to see in the tour.. which I will try to see as soon as I can, but they also don't have any extra houses or sheds on the property, just the pack house so not too many places to hide anything if they are.

The women looked a little skinny and the portions of food were small, so I don't know if that had to do with the malnourished accusations or not... I went with Nate and Wes along with the lead warrior to a bar that the Alpha and Luna own in town, just to check things out and to try to get the warrior's trust... But something unexpected happened... um... I found my mate.." I say a little hesitantly, not because of embarrassment, just because I want him to know about her but not to think I'm putting the assignment second to her. I know why I'm here, but like I said I'm a great multitasker.

"Ok, that's good to know about the pack. Just keep your eyes open, keep observing your surroundings, and of course make sure to see those other two rooms, because I'm assuming they are cells.. a place you could hide and no one would notice it or even hear that matter.. never let your guard down... On another note.. your mate?! That's amazing! What is she like? tell me! When is she coming home with you?! Your mother will be ecstatic to hear this!" he says with so much excitement for me.

"Um, that's the hard part dad. I don't know... She is human and she has been through a lot. She is so strong-willed and doesn't take anyone's crap. She put so many werewolves into their places without even knowing or maybe caring they were wolves and one of them was the Alpha's son too. But she doesn't care, she is brave and takes on whoever. But the issue is... I overheard her talking with the Alpha's son, who was harassing her. She was raped when she was 16 by her old teacher... When she went for help, everyone turned against her, calling her a harlot and homewrecker, even her family... She ended up getting pregnant from that rape and was completely on her own. She wouldn't tell anyone that the father is that guy because she is afraid when he gets out of jail he will take her daughter away, so everyone thinks she doesn't know who the father is... So they labeled her a wh*re and harlot and they harass her all the time. When she is so sweet and innocent... She is literally on her own and doesn't trust anyone. But she seemed to like me. I left an impression, that's for sure... She works as a waitress at the bar that the Alpha and Luna own. She is stunning from head to toe. So of course I flirted non-stop, throwing myself at her uncontrollably, but she told the guys she liked it and even kinda flirted back. She got me her favorite kinds of food and they were amazing... Her name is Ashleigh... But I'm hoping I won't have to deal with too many problems here, but when the Alpha's son tried to take Ashleigh home, even after she said no multiple times, Miles came out growling at him and he left her alone. He knew it was me though, threatening him... I was so worried she would be scared of me, but she wasn't. She was actually nice to me and petted me, even kissing my nose. I heard her talking with her friend that she wants to move away from here.. So maybe it won't be too hard to convince her to come with me, but I don't know, it might take a little bit. I don't care how long it takes, as long as she gets to come home with me. Her daughter is just as pretty as she is and she looks about the age of 5... I'm going to go see her before she goes back to work tonight. She dropped her wallet last night, so I kept it to give me a reason to see her again, not looking like a complete stalker!" I explained to him waiting for his response.

"She sounds like a strong, capable, wonderful woman that will make a great Luna for the pack... I know you will convince her at some point. Just take your time and don't rush, because this is a sensitive subject for sure. Just be respectful of her and her daughter. Keep me updated. Just make sure you're balancing everything pretty evenly between the assignment and your mate. You need as much time with your mate as you can because of the sensitive situation, but make sure you're spending time with the pack as well. Luckily, you have the other guys to help take the pack load off your shoulders... I wouldn't tell the pack about her being your mate just yet, because you're still not in your safe territory, so she can still be used against you out in the open there... Just wait until things get more serious then tell them. Unless they keep harassing her, then I would tell them right away so they will try to keep their distance." he says to me as I nod and think about it before responding. "The whole town blames her. The Alpha's son was harassing her and she got blamed for telling him off and putting him into a hold that put him on his knees. It was awesome to see her put an Alpha's son in his place in front of everyone... You would have been so proud, dad... I might just tell them right away to keep them away from her because she is mine and I will have her whether they like it or not." I say to him as I hear him humming on the other end.

"Yes, if they keep going out of their way to harass her, then yes, tell them she is your mate and hopefully they will back off. I will update the council about what you have found about the pack and I will tell your mother about your mate. We are so proud of you and can't wait to meet her! Good luck son and call me if you need anything." he says, making me smile so big. This makes me think about everything and honestly, I'm sad that Ashleigh didn't have her family when she needed them most because I don't know what I would do without my family right now. They are the people I always go to if I need anything.

I hang up the phone standing up as I get dressed for the day. Once I'm dressed and ready, I mindlink Nate and Wes to come to my room. I hear a knock on the door as they walk in, then shut the door behind them before greeting me by shaking my hand.

"Ok, so I wanted to talk to you guys real quick about everything that happened last night and I know I can trust you guys the most out of anyone... Ok... So I followed Ashleigh out, but so did the Alpha's son... I stayed hidden to make sure he didn't do anything inappropriate to her. He was about to try to take her home when she repeatedly told him no. He kept insisting even after her offense and outward rejection. He then spilled some information I'm going to tell you in confidentiality... She was raped years ago when she was 16 by her teacher... When she told the police about it, they of course believed her because of the positive evidence and sent him to jail, but everyone in this town blamed her and said she was asking for it and that she was just a homewrecker. So the Alpha's son said to her that he knew she wanted it and tried to take her with him again. So I came out growling and he reluctantly let her go, but I know he knew it was me... So I think I have to tell his pack that she is my mate, so they will stop harassing her and hopefully not use her as leverage against me... She said the harassment has been happening for years and she has a daughter as a result of her rape, but she loves her daughter so much. It's so sweet, she is a great mother... I needed to warn you guys because I threatened the Alpha's son and I don't know how this is going to go today. But the plus side is she saw my wolf and wasn't scared. She petted me and kissed my nose before she walked away. She even talked with me just to vent about her problems because she felt comfortable with me. She even said those exact words! She also said she can't wait until she gets to leave this town.. she wants to move. I just need to make sure it's with me. " I say with so much excitement to them bragging.

"Good that's a plus and a step in the right direction! She wants to leave and she likes you and your wolf.. great! But does she know you know about her past?" he asks as I answer back right away. "No, but she talked to my wolf about it unknowingly, just wanting to get it off of her chest, I think," I said to them a little sheepishly.

"Don't worry about the Alpha's son, we will worry about him if anything.. but you probably should have a talk with the Alpha and Luna about her, so they stop harassing her too... I saw how the Luna just automatically blamed your mate once she saw how she put her son in his place.. Who would have known that your little human mate would put an Alpha to his knees in front of everyone in a couple of seconds span. That was awesome. She is going to be a great Luna." Wes says to me patting me on my shoulder.

"That's if I can convince her to be my Luna. I still have to do that and yes, this is a step in the right direction for sure... I did tell my dad about the pack and her as well. I'm just going to make sure to talk to the Alpha and Luna before I go see her this morning." I say to the guys as they look a little confused.

"You're going to go see her this morning? Do you guys have a date planned or something?" Nate asks with so much curiosity and excitement for me, but I shake my head, making them even more confused.

"More of the 'or something'.. she dropped her wallet last night when she left, so I thought it was the perfect excuse to come see her today before she has to go to work," I say to them as they both nod in unison, patting my back once again. "That's awesome! So happy for you man... Go win over our Luna." They say with excitement, making me want to get to her right this second. They are such a great support system for me and I don't know what I would do without these guys, they always make me feel not so crazy about my feelings. I open the door to head out of my room and down the stairs with both of them trailing right behind.

I'm going to go talk to them now, then leave to see her, Ok? So just help out around here and keep an eye out. We still need to see those extra rooms as well, if we can... I have a bad feeling about them, but I'm trying to stay positive since we haven't seen much to the accusations yet.

I mind link the guys to make sure they know what's happening.

We continue walking down the stairs as the guys split off from me to go get some breakfast and I see the Luna and Alpha talking in his office with the door open. I knock lightly to get their attention, as they wave me in. I shut the door behind me, gaining all their attention.

"Hey, I just wanted to talk to you both if I can for a moment.. I actually found my mate last night, here.. but she is human, so it will take me longer than normal to convince her to be with me.. So I will be back and forth, but still of course helping out here and with the main priority of your pack, of course. But the thing I wanted to talk with you about is that last night your son was harassing her and she told him to leave her alone, rightfully.. and you Luna sent her away for the night, taking your son's side first without even giving her a chance to explain when I saw it wasn't her fault. I don't want any hard feelings at all with your pack, but if your son threatens or harasses my mate again there will be problems... So I wanted to talk to you both first out of respect." I say so honestly to both of them as I watch the Luna's eyes go wide before she responds. "Your mate is Ashleigh?? Oh, honey you should just reject her right away, she is not worth it... She is just a waste of space... We have plenty of wonderful she-wolves you could have." this makes Miles let out a big, rumbling growl that shakes the ground, as I try to control my anger at her comment.

She can't say that about our Luna! Who does she think she is?

Miles spats being livid about her comment.

Miles, you need to calm down... We are trying not to start problems while getting our point across. Now let me handle this...

"No.. not happening. I want her. She is amazing and I want only her, no she-wolves. Just please keep your son away from her. I don't want problems at all, I just want to help your pack and have my mate by my side. She is worth every last second of my time, I promise you that." I say back to the Luna with a little bit of spat to it.

"But she is a disgusting, human homewrecker!" She says loudly to me as if I'm stupid. I growl even louder at her, with anger filling my features, making sure she knows she is pushing buttons she shouldn't want to push right now. Especially with me of all people.

"You don't know what actually happened, but I do.. but it's not my place to say. I don't care that she is a human and neither does my family or pack. I just want her and I will have her. She is my mate and the moon goddess picked her specifically for me... I'm happy with her being chosen as my mate no matter what anyone else says." I say looking at the Luna, then the Alpha with a threat in my voice.

The Alpha stands up looking a little intimidated because he knows his mate pushed limits with me that she probably shouldn't have, as he says, "Ok thank you for having the respect to come to talk with us... I'm happy you found your mate. How lucky of you and she is stunning. I will be sure to talk with my son because we don't want a problem with you either. Especially after you and your crew went completely out of your way to help... So good luck with her and the transition to your pack and thank you for continuing your help with our pack as well. We appreciate it."

I bow to him and say a soft "thanks" as I take my leave. I need to go see my lady to make me feel better.
