Humans and their foolish mentality.
Money wasn't everything.
"She stays with your grandma?" I asked cause I was wondering who the girl was staying with if she didn't stay with him
"Yes, you would've known if you listened to what I was saying some minutes ago."
"All I'm saying is, don't quit the job. If you want to keep your daughter safe, be there for her. Don't make the same mistake my mother did."
He picked up his luggage and started pouring his clothes on his bed. "I guess you're right."
"So does that mean you're staying?" I asked as I moved towards him.
"Yes,"
Finally.
"But, I'm still getting an increase right?" He added.
The corner of my lip twitched and I nodded my head. "Sure, my boss will be happy I pulled off the deal."
Ted threw on a lacklustre smile and headed towards the door. "Let me go get you something to..." He just stood at the doorway, immobile.
Abruptly, a strong gust of wind circulated around the room, causing Ted's clothes to fly around carelessly. I held my hand over my face trying to see what was going on.
After a while, the wind-dispersed and the clothes dropped on the floor. I looked at the doorway and saw the shadow of huge wings being cast over Ted and I, plastering itself on the mosaic wall.
I knew that presence. It reeked of evil and everything I went against. I heard the wings flap close, causing its silhouette to disappear from the wall.
He was here and I knew it. But what got me wondering was, how did he find me?
"Hello brother, did you think I won't find you?" His voice was deep and smooth as always.
Classic Albazar.
Chapter 7
---Brotherhood
Ian's POV
I bit my lip gently to make sure this wasn't a dream. Letting out a huge sigh, I spun to face the being behind me.
A rush of air escaped my lungs.
It was him, Albazar.
He wasn't in his normal red-skinned form. His black hair was permed to perfection and it parted to a side. The ends of his hair were flaky and some strands fell loosely above his olive-skinned face.
He stood in his normal stance, an arm behind his back. My breath hitched when I saw his crimson globes gazing at my form.
I won't lie, I was scared of him. Him being the strongest warrior in hell was no joke. The red suit he wore, glued tightly to his muscular build, erupting folds anywhere a muscle bugled out.
"What is it brother, you seem so shocked seeing me." He smirked and tucked a strand of hair behind his ear. "You should be exciting no?"
How could I be excited? My worst nightmare was standing in front of me.
I cleared my throat and stood straight, trying not to be intimidated by his presence. "What are you doing here?"
"Is that all you can say?" He locked his brows that were like checkmarks. "After 50 years of leaving hell, I expected better questions."
"Okay, I've got a better question. How did you find me?"
He chuckled under his breath and twitched a corner of his lips. "From a clumsy mistake you made. The killing at that night club, it was enough for me to know you were in this city."
Shit.
"I've got to say, you dealt with my demons. I really underestimated you," he uttered, straightening his black tie. "Well, they were worthless anyway. I'll let Cerberus teach them a lesson."
"You have to stop sending your demons to earth. You're causing a lot of havoc."
"That's the reason I sent them in the first place brother." A smug smile proudly grew itself on his face. I should've known better, My brother wasn't going to change. "But you know, I'm going to give you a chance to join me. Let's teach these puny humans a lesson and father will be proud of us."
I let out a deep breath. "So that's what this is all about? You just want to please our father."
"We are the two golden sons of Lucifer. We have to make our father proud." He came closer to me and patted my shoulder. "We wouldn't want Grandpa to think we are weak do we?"
"Grandpa created these humans. You destroying his beloved creations won't make him think you're strong. It will make him think you're against him."
"That's the problem Hailbuzar. He loves his foolish projects more than his own family. So join Father and I, let's make Grandpa's creation suffer. Maybe when he sees how strong we are, he'll come back to us."
So this was Albazar's plan this whole time?
But he didn't need to include humans in this mess. Creating a deadly virus that killed these humans made me hate the plan more.
I was definitely not in support of this
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I can join your stupid plan. It doesn't even make any sense," I disclosed.
Albazar spat on the ground and pointed a finger at me. "I knew it. I knew all these years you spent on Earth will make you softer. You're a disgrace to our family."
"Say whatever you want to say. Just know, I'll never be part of this."
He shot Ted's frozen body a look. "This human is contaminating you right?" His hand stretched to Ted's neck and I quickly gripped his forearm. He stared at me and smirked. "Ooh, feisty. I like it."
"Don't you dare touch him." I glared at my brother's figure, not minding his intimidating structure.
He smiled briefly and nodded his head. "So you dare challenge me because of this filthy human?"
"He's purer than you'll ever be. At least he's genuine. He's not trying to please his father."
Albazar's eyes became filled with thick crimson liquid, which flowed down his cheeks. "How dare you?"
He gripped my neck and held it tightly like I was a plush doll. I saw the veins on his neck pop out like they wanted to escape his skin.
His gaze, hard as a nail, bored into my shaky orbs and he tightened his grip on my poor neck.
My whole blood began to boil, he had crossed a line. My back tore and my wings emerged. They grew out elegantly and spread across the room.
Mine was different from my brother's. Its feathers were white and whenever the sun touched it, I felt like Gandpa was blessing me. My brother's was black and had thorns at its edges.
"You want to fight?" I managed to focus my gaze on his, not minding his rough hand wrapped around my neck. "Let's take it to the skies."
Swiftly, I flew out of the room, breaking through its white ceiling. Albazar's grip was still on my neck and I didn't see him realising it anytime soon.
"Good old devil fight, I love it." My brother grinned and threw a heavy blow on my chin, sending my entire form on a fast flight.
I burst through white clouds, feeling the moist of its form.
His blow was heavy and I felt my head ringing bells continuously.
I knew I was no match for him.
But it was worth a try, right?
I shook my head and opened my eyes which was now having blurred vision. When I could see clearly, my face was welcomed by another punch, this time, it landed on my nose.
I held my nose and winced in pain. He was really dealing with me. My wings flapped stably, keeping me above the city which was on a time freeze.
Albazar was far from me, but I knew a few flaps of his wings, will get him to where I was. He flew forward, leaving a trail of black smoke behind him.
I thrust myself towards him with all my might, rage, and detest fueling in my mind. When we collided, a loud boom shook the clouds and we both bounced back in different directions.
"Come on brother!" I heard him shout as he moved at a speed so fast I could never imagine. All I could see was his head and his wings. The rest of his body was covered by the black smoke surrounding him.
I gnawed my teeth and sucker-punched him in the head when he reached me. But surprisingly, he didn't move an inch. He raised his head with a smirk across his face and his flaming gaze bored through my eyes.
"You're too weak." He head bumped me and sent me flying in the opposite direction. My head felt like it was just shocked with 3000 volts of electricity.
"Look at your white wings." He flew closer and gripped my wings with both hands. "Such an abomination for a devil to have angelic wings." His nails dug into my feathers and I let out a cry of pain.
He was torturing me.
He spiralled with his grip still on my feathers and threw me towards a building, causing me to break through it. The room I found myself in was small, and its tiles sent chills into my body from the heel of my palm. There were mops and brooms littered at every corner.
The sun was breaking through the c***k I left on the wall and it shone angrily on my face. I raised a hand over my head, trying to protect my eyes from burning out.
Soon, I heard wings flap close and I removed my hand, only to see my brother in front of me. The sunlight painted a perfect silhouette of his structure.
He put back an arm behind his back and smirked, flashing me his white set of teeth.
He should have used one hand to fight me, coward.
"I must say, you lasted longer than I expected." His voice came out low and smooth. "Since you gave me a good fight, I'll give you a head start over some of my agents. There's an auction going on at the Edu conference hall tomorrow night. Some of my best agents will be there, so you have to up your game."
He turned around and faced the sky. His wings broke out of his back, ready to take flight.
I stretched out an arm. "Wait, why are you telling me this?"
"You know I love to play games. It's obvious you can't stop me, so take this as a challenge." He bent his head and chuckled, bouncing his shoulders in rhythm with his outbursts. "And don't worry, I won't hurt your human friend."
His wings flapped, sending all the things in the room to fly around haphazardly. He flew out of the room and I stared at him till he was out of sight.
I was going to prove him wrong. He should just wait and see.
Chapter 8
---The auction
Ian's POV
"Papa please."
Hit.
"It's obvious you can't stop me."
Hit.
"Such an abomination for a devil to have angelic wings."
Hit.
"Ian, you have to stop..." I threw a heavy punch on the punching bag in front of me and sent the person behind it to the end of the room. She landed with a big thud and laid on the clobbered floor, looking at me with pitiful eyes.
"Ah!" I yelled, grabbing a handful of my hair and knelt on the floor.
My mind was playing with me. I was going insane. I glanced around the room that was dimly lit by the moonlight, tearing through the grate on the ceiling. The whole place smelt like sweat and an Avante Garde fabric.
I'm guessing it was from my newly purchased boxing gloves.
Water was dripping from the cracked ceiling and it drained the concrete floor. This was where I came to train, and let out all my pain.
"Ian, you have to be positive. We can still stop..."
"You don't understand Zara!" I interrupted. "Our cover has been blown. Albazar knows we are here and that means trouble." I felt a rush of anger run through my mind.
