Chapter 21He'll be back, she thought, sinking onto the bed. Though usually cool, he had lost his patience with her before. Minutes turned into hours and she wanted to hear his knuckles on the door. She listened to strangers hurrying through the hallway and after a while, she focused her attention to the traffic below. The city that never slept had yellow and white taxi cabs from one end of the strip to the other, forming a yellow conga line under neon lights. It all seemed to be a never-ending party to visitors from faraway places. The sidewalks were full of people getting out of shows, milling about and laughing. What just happened?
