Chapter 23At four o'clock, Ray offered to take Penny home. Thoroughly exhausted, she slumped in the back of the limo thinking about John. It certainly wasn't their first fight in twenty years. She thought back to the times he had stormed out, only to return a couple of inebriated hours later. Ray kept typing things into his phone and since she looked sweaty and wore old casual clothes, he didn't seem interested in striking up one of his intimate conversations. She murmured a prayer of gratitude and found herself in front of the apartment building. “Thanks Ray,” she mumbled, slipping from the leather seats onto the curb.
