Chapter 15: Alpha's cure

Maya's pov. “Okay??” I was unsure about this as I felt weird, I didn't know him, I didn't know what he looked like nor did I like the way he sounded but at that moment, he was my present and Mark wasn't. Jackson led me by my hand and brought me to a chair to take a seat which I did, although right after I ripped my hands away from him, physical touch has never been my strong suit. “So, you eyes, Do you mind if I ask what happened to them?” He questioned from behind me before slowly undoing the bandages. Yes, I did mind, it wasn't something I wanted to talk about, especially to someone I just met. Jackson seems to wave it off, “It must be traumatic for you, having to lose your vision, I don't think I would be able to live with myself if I can't see the beauty of the world,” I wanted to scoff in ridicule, the beauty of the world? The world wasn't beautiful, maybe once upon a time, but for a long time it hasn't. There have been wars, killing and a terrible event that have happened over the years, so many. Maybe being blind wasn't such a bad thing anyway. When he took off the bandages, it remained the same, the darkness I had slowly started to become accustomed with. I felt Jackson's hands graze my cheeks, his hot breath fanned my lips and I knew he was up close, “It must have been painful really,” I could hear the grimace in his words. It was unusual for others to gaze down on me and feel pity, the crimson blood pack frowned upon such practices, such display of weakness and I was an entire embodiment of that. “If you had the opportunity to see it again, would you take it?” His question came all of a sudden, catching me off guard, “Excuse me!?” He had stepped away from me and I and with him the scent of Smokey amber and crisp pine that had filled my nostrils, “I'm not supposed to say this but, Mark had explained your case to me, perhaps there might be a way for you to see again,” There were some movements and the sound of Jackson dragging a chair and setting it beside me, “That is, if you want it though,” Did I want it? Of course I wanted to see again, as much as I hate the world, I hated being even more useless, I couldn't do anything for myself, only depending on my hearing and my sense of touch wasn't enough. My heart beat raced in the anticipation that his words were true, “What is it?” It was like I could hear the smile at my eagerness through my question, “It’s like a serum, it's only been used a couple of times with great results and although I can't guarantee a full return of vision, it is said to have the healing properties of an Alpha,” I bit the corners of my lips at the sound of that, I can't see him, I can't know what he's thinking, is this even possible? He dabbed at my eyes with a soft damped material before tilting my head back gently and two drops fell into each of my eyes, “Was that it?” I asked with caution as I felt my eyes begin to burn. Jackson chuckled however, “No, of course not, I don't have your consent yet, that's just to help with the tears,” he proceeded to place new bandages. “Although if you do want it, I do have some questions you'll need to answer first,” His questions wouldn't hurt, would they? I nodded slowly and unsure even though I had no idea if he could see me or not. “Alright then,” after he was done with my bandages, his questions began, “I need to know, have you ever shifted before?” It was easier to shake my head than for me to use my voice. “I guess not since you haven't already healed by yourself,” he asked other questions, some of which I wasn't going to answer as I didn't believe it was important. And because I was scared, knowing the crimson blood pack, any information was crucial. Warm hands grabbed mine gently, holding them in place, “Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you,” he assured after noticing my visible flinch. His hands softly carried mine, I was a bit conscious about the callouses on my hands, “And what about this?” His hands paused to massage the area at my wrist, “This symbol, where did you get it?” My brows furrowed in confusion, “That is not a symbol, it's a…..it's the crimson blood brand,” “No not that, this,” he pressed it further as if trying to get me to notice it even more, “This little Star shaped symbol, right here,” I remembered the symbol, it blended with my skin. Sometimes one wouldn't know it was there unless you looked really hard, “I…I don't know where I got it from….” I stuttered in confusion, “I've just….ha dit I guess,” And that was the truth, it has always been a part of me for as long as I could remember. The more he caressed my wrist, the more I felt like this was wrong. I pulled my hands back away from him as this feeling grew, “Uhmm, never mind, I should probably get going,” the need to leave pressed against me harshly. But Jackson held me back, “Before you go, I should at leave give you what you want, don't you think,” My heart skipped a beat as I hesitated before slowly returning to my seat. There was some shuffling to my right and I c****d my head to the side, before I felt Jackson's present right next to me, “This might sting a little but….” And it did. I yelped and flinched away as he injected my arm with whatever this serum was I guessed. “it's not an overnight process, it will take time though,” “I should also remind you that it might cause some slight inches and pain, but you have to remember, the damage to your vision was very extensive, I hope you can beat it,” I held my arm, thanking him before I was gone, he wasn't wrong though, the pain came the second I stepped out of the clinic and my hands began to itch. What the hell?
