Hearing the long and gentle stride towards the room, Aria's heart beat quickened in her chest as she tried to tear off the IV fluids connected to her arms. Her face contorted in pain, she took in a deep breath, and she winced loudly as she finally removed the IV fluids from her arms. Through the force she used to remove it, it hurt her in the process, and she started to bleed. She pressed her hand over the wound quickly, and she slowly made her way out of the ward. She quickened her pace and used her hair to cover her face as the person walked past her to the ward where she had come out from. “That was close.” She whispered and slipped through the hospital back door. The cool air hit her face instantly, making her shiver. Her legs felt weak beneath her, but she forced herself to keep moving. She couldn’t stay. Not when hers and her baby's safety is at risk. Her hand tightened protectively over her stomach. “My baby, mommy will protect you…” she murmured under her breath. She staggered toward the side of the building, her breathing uneven. The world around her spun slightly, but she bit down on her lip, forcing herself to stay conscious. Think, Aria. Think. She knew she couldn't possibly go home when she had those savages, Dylan and Victor, waiting, not even after what Mr. One-night stand did to them. A shiver ran down her spine, thinking of how she'll probably be roasted if her footsteps touch their threshold. Yes, since she didn't know his name. She decided to start calling him Mr. One-night stand. Her fingers trembled as she reached into the pocket of her dress and pulled out her phone. The screen flickered weakly—it was almost dead. “Please… don’t die on me now,” she whispered urgently. She scrolled quickly through her contacts before stopping at a name. Bella. Yes, Bella, her friend, is the only person who could save her now. Without wasting another second, she pressed the call button and lifted the phone to her ear. It rang once, twice, three times. Aria’s heart pounded harder with each passing second, looking towards the door. They must have already found out that she's gone, and they must be searching for her. “Pick up… please pick up…” she muttered anxiously, her eyes darting around as if Reed might appear at any moment. Finally, the phone got answered. “Hello?” a sleepy voice answered. Relief flooded through Aria so fast her knees almost gave out. “Bella…” her voice cracked instantly. There was a pause on the other end as if Bella was confirming whose call she had just answered. “Aria? What’s wrong? Why do you sound like that?” Aria swallowed hard, her grip on the phone tightening. “I… I need your help,” she said, her voice shaking uncontrollably. “Please… can you come get me?” “Where are you?” Aria looked around quickly, her vision blurring slightly. “I—I’m at Victoria Healing Hospital… the back entrance.” Bella’s tone immediately changed, all traces of sleep gone. “What happened? Are you hurt?” Aria let out a shaky breath. “I’ll explain when you get here… please, Bella… just come.” “I’m on my way. Don’t move, okay? Stay right there.” Aria nodded her head as if Bella could hear her. Aria lowered the phone slowly, her body finally giving in as she leaned against the cold wall behind her. Her breathing was uneven, her strength slipping little by little. But she couldn’t relax until she got out of this place. In the distance, the faint sound of a car engine approaching broke the silence. Aria lifted her head slightly, hope flickering in her tired eyes. “Bella…” Bella pulled up sharply, the tires screeching against the pavement. Before the car had even fully stopped, she pushed the door open and rushed out. “Aria!” Aria looked up weakly, relief washing over her face. Bella didn’t waste a second. She hurried to her side and opened the passenger door. “Get in.” Aria nodded faintly and, with the little strength she had left, slid into the seat. Bella shut the door quickly and rushed back to the driver’s side. The moment she got in, she slammed the door and started the engine. As the car pulled away, Aria’s gaze drifted toward the hospital. And then her breath hitched as she saw him through the glass door. He had just stepped out, his presence as imposing as ever, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings like a predator searching for its prey. For a brief second, Aria felt like his gaze might land on her. Her heart slammed violently against her chest. “Drive… Bella, please drive,” she whispered urgently. Bella frowned slightly but didn’t question her. She pressed harder on the accelerator, speeding away from the hospital. Only when the building disappeared from view did Aria finally let out the breath she’d been holding. Beside her, Bella stole a glance—and gasped. “Aria… what the hell happened to you?” Aria looked away, her fingers tightening around her dress. **** The managing director of the hospital was sweating profusely, his body trembling as men in black suits filled every corner of the building. The once-busy hospital had fallen into a suffocating silence. “You call this place a hospital?” Reed’s voice was low, deadly calm, yet it echoed like a threat. “A patient disappears right under your nose?” The managing director’s lips trembled. “S-Sir, we are doing everything we can—” “Everything?” Reed cut him off sharply, his eyes turning ice-cold. Reed took a slow step forward, his polished shoes echoing against the floor. “I’ll shut this place down in twenty minutes,” he said coldly, each word precise, “if you don’t find Aria.” The man’s knees nearly gave out. Reed Luca is the richest man in the country, and every man doesn't want to cross him and always get in his favor. An order can have its close and cease to exist forever. Reed rolled up his sleeves slightly, revealing the intricate tattoos running along his arms, dark ink coiling like something dangerous and alive. “Sir, please calm down. Let's check the CCTV camera.” The managing director spoke carefully, rubbing his sweaty palm together. Soon, the CCTV was brought out, and they showed the exact footage of Aria's ward. It showed that Aria soon woke up, and before they knew it, she removed her IV fluids, quickly injuring herself in the process, and how she escaped through the hospital back door. Reed stared at the screen… then slowly smiled. “Zoom in.” The footage froze. A car plate number appeared clearly. “Found you.”
