Chapter Four: Reunion of Mates

River

I was running through the forest letting my wolf Valor get his energy out when I got the scent of lemon and lavender, I instantly changed direction and went towards the smell. Then I seen the most beautiful angel ever. She was short, had a toned body, tanned skin with a tattoo on her right side, heart shaped lips, and ocean blue eyes. After our encounter, she ran off saying her pack needed her. I mind linked my Beta Lake. “Find out how far the Night Walkers Pack is”. “Why what’s wrong?” He asked. “Nothing is wrong, I just found my mate and that’s the pack she’s in. I just want to schedule a visit with them. Maybe get more information about her from their alpha”. I told him. “Okay no problem Alpha, I’ll find out” he replied. “I’m on my way back”. I told him and headed back to my pack house.

When I got there, Blair was coming outside to go on her run. She stopped when she saw me and gave me the biggest smile, I rolled my eyes before I got to her. Valor didn’t like her before, but now that he’s found his mate, he couldn’t stand another shewolf being near us, and I agreed with him. Blair has been obsessed with me since we were teenagers. She wasn’t unattractive, she had auburn hair, green eyes, about 5’5, and a toned body, but she wasn’t my mate and I refuse to give anyone my attention that isn’t her. When I got closer to go inside the pack house she stopped me. She put her hands on my arms and started rubbing my arms. “Where have you been? We could have had some fun together” she said smiling. I growled and grabbed her hands and removed them off me. “I am your Alpha, don’t question where I have been. I have an important meeting to set up and don’t have time for you” I replied and walked inside. I went upstairs to my office and mind linked Lake to meet me there.

Lake knocked and walked into my office and sat in the chair across from my desk. “The Night Walkers is only 25 minutes away from us” he said and handed me the number to call. “Good, I’m going to call and set up a meeting and see if we can head out tomorrow” I replied. Lake smirked but just nodded. Lake wasn’t just my beta, he was also my best friend. We grew up together from pups until now. I always knew he would be my beta. I picked my office phone up and dialed the number Lake had gave me. A male answered the phone. “Beta Abel speaking” Abel said. “This is Alpha River, from the White Walkers pack, I was wanting to schedule a meeting tomorrow or as soon as possible” our packs have had an alliance for years, so it was normal for our packs to have meetings occasionally. “Okay, my Alpha is taking two days off since the anniversary of the Alpha and Luna’s death is tomorrow, but I can get you scheduled for tomorrow” Abel said. That didn’t make since for the current Alpha to be taking off, but I didn’t think anything of it. “Okay I’ll start packing and have my Beta pack so we can leave early in the morning”. We got off the phone, and I let Lake know to go pack, and went to my room and started packing.

Isla

I woke up the next morning and my Beta Abel mind linked me and let me know we had another pack coming to visit today, and I was dreading it even though he said he’d handle it since today was a bad day for me, even though it’s been 10 years since my parents passed, I never got to properly grieve for them. I got up, took my shower and put a grey crop top on, ripped blue jeans, and my pair of checkered vans. I went downstairs to eat breakfast with my pack. Abel sat in his seat to my left and patted my hand. “I know today is hard for you, just know I’m here if you need anything or just need to talk”. I looked over at him and smiled. “Thank you Abel, that means a lot to me, I’ll remember that. I think I’ll just go outside and walk around”. He smiled and nodded and continued to eat. “Thank you for handling this meeting, I just don’t have the energy to do it today.” He looked up and smiled. “It’s my job to help you Alpha”.

I finished eating and went outside, as soon as I stepped out into our yard, I seen a red four door Jeep wrangler pull into the driveway. Denali started getting anxious again. “Den what is wrong?” I asked her. “It’s him Isla, he’s back!” She said excitedly. I walked away to the tree line where nobody could see me and watched him get out of the drivers side. I was practically drooling looking him up and down, he was wearing a tight white t-shirt, tight blue jeans, black combat boots. His hair was short but messy like the day before. He was scanning the trees, he could sense me. They go inside and after a while Beta Abel asked for me.

I go inside the pack house and follow the scent of my mate, I go upstairs to my office, and stand outside my door and slow my breathing. Then I open my office door and see his brown eyes looking directly at me. I close the door and go to my desk and sit in my chair. “You called for me Beta Abel?” I asked looking at him. “Yes Alpha, Alpha River asked for you, well he described you” he replied slightly bowed to me. I look over at River and he seems shocked to see I’m the Alpha. “So what is this meeting for Alpha River?” I ask him. I lean my chin into my palm on my desk and smile at him. He looks me over and smirks. “I think you already know why, Mate”.
