Episode 17: b***h from hell

1128 Words

Norah pushed through the boardroom doors with Mary at her side, the folded paper still clutched so tightly it left creases in her palm. Her chest felt heavy, but her face stayed blank, practiced. They hadn’t gone more than a few steps when two voices cut through the corridor. “Norah—wait.” She stopped. Becca and Lila stood at the far end, no Rose this time, just the two of them, looking smaller than she had ever seen them. Mary shifted closer, shoulder brushing hers like a shield. “What do you want?” Her tone was sharp, protective. Lila swallowed hard before answering. “About everything. About how we acted. About how we stood by Rose and didn’t stop her.” Mary crossed her arms, unimpressed. “I thought you guys were BFFs,” she said, tilting her head. Becca let out a humorless laugh.
