Jayden's POV:
I can't believe that Layla came to the dances. It was like a dream come true. I have to say that she looked amazing. I might not understand fashion, but my date was the best-dressed girl in the room. She did all of this for me. Honestly, I never thought that she could do something for someone. I am impressed. Now I have to plan our date. I'm so happy that she agreed to go out with me. Layla is the only girl with who I want to be. Well, she doesn't know it yet. I plan to tell her everything on the date. I need to think about when it will be. Let's say that I haven't thought about this. So many things happened in the last couple of days that I can't think about anything else. She always has been in my mind. Maybe I realized it too late. People say that it's better late than never. It's true. I'm glad that we'll have a date. I want to make her feel comfortable. For now, it's better if I don't tell anyone. I can tell Evan. I know that he won't tell anyone. After all, he is my best friend. He might give me ideas for the date. The problem is that I don't know many things about Layla. I am talking about what food she likes or if she has a favorite place. I can ask her, but it will be too obvious. If I have to be honest, I will tell my parents about her when she is officially my girlfriend. Otherwise, they won't stop asking questions. I know that they want to meet her. I have no problem with that, but I prefer to do one thing at a time. Let's hope that Layla will agree to be my girlfriend. I would love it, but at the same time, I don't want to make her do something that she doesn't like. I hope that everything will go in the right direction.
It's the weekend. One week passed since the dances. Everyone was talking about Layla. I like how jealous some of the girls were. They deserve it. On the other side, my friend didn't feel good about it. Let's say that she doesn't like attention. I don't know what to do to help her with that. I can't make people stop talking about her. Well, what I can do is make her stop thinking about this. Our date can help me with that.
I woke up and went to get dressed. It's Saturday, and I don't have any plans. I can call Evan. It's not like I don't see him every day in school. The same is for Layla. When I was ready, I walked downstairs for breakfast. Something smelled delicious. I followed the smell to the kitchen. There was a chocolate cake on the table. I believe that this is not for me. I was about to take a piece, but my mom came and took it away.
- Seriously? I want a piece.
- If you want, I will make you another one. That is not for you.
- Then, for who is it?
- I have to go out with my friends. We'll be at Kelsey's house.
- You cook more for your friends than for us. - I said, chuckling
- Excuse me. Don't make me stop doing it.
- Fine. Don't get mad.
- I'm not.
- What can I eat?
- There is food in the fridge. Get something and eat it.
- Thanks, mom. You are the best.
- I know. I wish that you could say it without sarcasm.
- One day, I will.
- What are your plans for today? The weather is nice. You can go out.
- I don't know.
- You can invite Layla home. I would love to meet her.
- That's why I won't do it.
- But she is your girlfriend. I have to see her.
- Mom, we are not dating.
- Then what are you two?
- Friends, what else?
- If you like her, you have to tell her.
- Relax. We have a date.
- What? Why don't I know?
- Because it didn't happen yet.
- What are you waiting for now? To end the school year?
- Mom, stop pressuring me. Everything will happen at the right time.
- Ok, but I won't be responsible if it's too late.
- Weren't you supposed to go out?
- That's what I will do. Tell your dad that I am out.
- Where is he?
- With his friends.
- Ok, I will leave him a note.
- Bye, honey.
- Bye, mom.
I love my mom, but sometimes she plays on my nerves. I know she wants me to be happy, but I'm not a kid. Since I have no plans for the day, I will text Evan. He has to be free.
Hey, man. Are you free today?
You don't have luck. Call Layla.
Why? Where are you?
Outside with a girl. We are not on a date. Let's say that I want to try my luck.
Good luck, then.
In that case, only Layla has left as an option. I called her, but she didn't answer. Maybe she is busy. I walked into my room and grabbed a book. As she promised, Layla gave me back the book when we started school. I took the one which I started reading a couple of days ago. I almost reached the middle. Soon, I received a message from my friend.
I'm sorry that I didn't answer your call. I was in the shower. Was it something important?
I only wanted to know if you had plans for today. Evan cut me off.
No, I am free the whole day.
Can you come home?
Yeah, sure. Give me around an hour, and I will come.
Take your time.
Thank you. See you soon.
At least I have someone who will occupy me. After an hour, there was a knock on my door. I guess that front door was open. Layla walked in and sat on the bed. I told her to give me five minutes to finish my chapter. Later, I put all my attention on her. She smiled at me, and I returned it. I will never get bored while she is around.
- What do you want us to do? - she asked
- I'll let you decide.
- Why me?
- Because you are my guest.
- In that case, I want us to watch a movie in bed. Later, we can go out for lunch.
- It will look like afternoon breakfast, but ok.
- I'm not hungry now.
- Which movie will we watch?
- Can it be a kids' movie?
- Why not?
- I want to watch Camp Rock.
- It was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid.
We watched the movie peacefully. I would like it if Layla had snuggled into me, but I don't know if she wanted that. Well, I will try and see what can happen. Without saying anything, I pulled her close for a hug. Luckily, she didn't pull away. I kissed the top of her head to see a reaction. There was only a smile. It was enough for me. In the middle of it, she fell asleep. I won't lie about it. She sleeps cute. I slightly kissed her cheek and laid down next to her. Honestly, I can stay like that for a whole day. Well, we have to go out soon. Otherwise, we'll eat dinner. I don't want to wake her up, but I have to. Let's hope that she won't be mad.
- Layla, wake up. We have to go out.
- Five more minutes.
- Please. I would love to leave you sleeping, but we haven't eaten. I'm hungry.
- Oh, I'm sorry. I'll go to the bathroom.
- Hey, it's ok. I like having you here.
- Um, thanks. - she said, blushing
Both of us went to our restaurant. It was almost 2 pm. I call this late lunch. I have no idea what I will eat, but I want it to be enough. Finally, I ordered an omelet with ham, yellow cheese, and bacon. Layla ordered only a salad. It's not my business, but I think that she has to eat more. Maybe she has a meal schedule. I don't know. It's better if I don't ask. We ate our food in peace. No one was talking. Honestly, I don't know what to tell her. Maybe I can ask her about the date. No, I have to do this on my own. It won't be a nice date if I ask her to pick our activities.
- Random question, but what is your favorite food?
- I don't know. I like to eat many things. Why?
- I'm just asking.
- Well, I like sweet things. I mean everything which contains sugar.
- I don't think that someone hates it. - I said, chuckling
- You are probably right.
- Tell me something about yourself. No matter what it is.
- Unlike other girls, my style is a bit different. I don't want to dress in fancy and expensive clothes. I prefer something simple.
- I have noticed that. I won't lie that your style is good. I like it.
- Thank you. At least one person likes the way I dress.
- There is nothing wrong with your style. People should be free to dress however they want to, without negative comments.
- Don't you want too much?
- I can dream as much as I want. - I said, and Layla laughed
- Me too.
- What do you want us to do next?
- I don't know. Can we go somewhere where we haven't been?
- I think that I know a place.
I paid for our food, and we walked out. There is one garden around forty-five minutes from here. It has a lot of flowers and trees. At least they will protect us from the sun. It's f*******n to pick up the flowers, but you can buy some at the entrance. I bought a beautiful red rose. I might not know many things about her, but I know that every girl likes flowers. The thing is that I don't know her favorite flower. Maybe I had to ask her this. It's too late. I can do better on our date. Who knows when it will be?
- This is for you.
- Oh, thank you. It's pretty.
- I hope that you like it.
- I do. Roses are my mom's favorite flowers. By the way, she wanted to name me Rose.
- Why did she change her decision?
- One of her friends suggested mom the name Layla, and she liked it.
- No matter what your name is, I still like you.
- I'm glad to hear that.
- Let's walk around.
We walked by every flower and tree in the garden. As I see, Layla likes everything. I have to buy her flowers for our date. I looked up to see that my friend was gone. Where did she go? Now I regret taking her here. The garden is enormous. How am I supposed to find her? I started running around until I saw her. Layla was staying by some pink flowers. I don't know what their name is. This girl will give me a heart attack.
- Hey, you came back?
- Back? I was searching for you everywhere.
- Why? I told you that I would go to see the petunias.
- I didn't hear that. I'm sorry.
- Did you run all the way here?
- Maybe. I thought that I had lost you. - I said, and Layla laughed
- Silly boy. - she said and kissed my cheek
- Can you do this again?
- Maybe. - Layla said and kissed my cheek again
- When do you have a free day?
- I am always free for you. After school, I go home only to do my homework. Later I don't do anything. Why are you asking?
- I want to take you on a date. I hope that you didn't forget that.
- How can I? When do you want it to be?
- Whenever you say?
- How about Monday?
- I'm ok with that. Do you want anything special?
- No. Do whatever you want. Even if we don't do anything, I will still be happy.
- Maybe, but I have to do something special for you.
- Why?
- Because I want to. Also, you deserve it.
- Let's say that I believe you.
- It's true. That will be my thank you gift for coming to the dances with me.
- Don't think that I will do it again.
- This reminds me that I had to ask you something.
- Ok, go on.
- Will you be my prom date?
- Jayden!
- What?
- Don't you ask too much?
- I still want you to be my prom date.
- We have enough time until prom comes.
- I want to make sure you won't go with anyone else.
- Don't worry. No one will want to go out with me.
- That's not true. I will.
- Except you.
- To understand that you are mine.
- I never said that.
- You didn't deny it either.
- Damn it!
- I can't wait for this date.
- Can we go home?
- Sure. I'll send you.
- Thanks.
Both with Layla walked to her house. We talked for a while, and later, I went home. Mom was putting the dinner on the table. Of course, she had to ask some questions. Luckily, this time they weren't much. I told her where I had been and with who. She wants to meet Layla. First, I want to have a successful date. Later, I will bring her here. I have to meet her parents as well. I don't know if they want to see me, but I have to do it. I think that Layla and I will have a good relationship. Let's hope that I'm not wrong. I want her as my girlfriend, and I will do everything possible to make this happen. She is the only one with who I want to be. Layla is the one. I hope that I won't disappoint her.
