Chapter 20Muriel stayed behind me with her pipe. Dyami surged to one side of me and gave a deep rumble that I felt in my feet. I don't think we impressed the four Burners facing us. At one time they were just four men in expensive suits. Now they were transformed by an overdose of Burn into something faster and more deadly than most humans. Luckily I'm not like most humans either.
They charged as a group. I shot two in the head before they reached us but that's all I had time for.
Dyami bellowed and charged forward. His large fists drove one back.
The other swung at me. I twisted, and the blow went past. I kicked him in the stomach. It knocked him back but didn't seem to hurt him.
