Chapter 1

As Charlotte and I wandered the vibrant streets of Manila, the city seemed to come alive with a pulse of its own. The night market was filled with laughter, the clatter of vendors, and the tantalizing aroma of street food. Amidst this sensory overload, we stumbled upon a bar that seemed to beckon us with its lively music and welcoming glow. The bar was a contrast of shadows and light, with patrons lost in their own worlds of conversation and drink. I felt a bit out of place in my simple disguise, my royal upbringing at odds with the casual atmosphere. But something about the energy of the place drew me in. Charlotte nudged me gently. “Your Highness, perhaps we should find a quieter spot?” I nodded, feeling the weight of our journey. But just as we turned to leave, a man approached us, his presence commanding and enigmatic. “You seem out of place here,” he remarked, his voice a melodic symphony in the chaos around us. I turned to face him, my breath catching in my throat. He was tall, with an air of confidence that bordered on arrogance. His dark hair framed a face that was both handsome and mysterious, his eyes holding a depth that made me shiver. “I am,” I admitted, my voice betraying a mix of fear and curiosity. “May I join you?” he asked, gesturing towards a quieter corner of the bar. Charlotte looked at me, her concern evident, but I nodded. There was something about this man that intrigued me, a sense that he was more than he appeared. “I’m Zephyr,” he introduced himself as we settled into a booth. “Alessandra,” I replied, using my real name despite my initial caution. Zephyr’s eyes sparkled with interest. “Alessandra, a name as beautiful as its bearer.” I felt a blush rise to my cheeks. “Thank you. And you, Zephyr, what brings you to this corner of the world?” He smiled, a secretive smile that hinted at untold stories. “Business, mostly. But tonight, it seems fate had other plans.” We talked for what felt like hours, the conversation flowing effortlessly. Zephyr was charming, his words weaving a tapestry of fascination around me. He spoke of travels and experiences that seemed otherworldly, and though he revealed little about himself, I found myself drawn to him. As the night deepened, the bar’s vibrant energy seemed to cocoon us in a world of our own. Zephyr leaned in closer, his gaze intense. “Alessandra, you intrigue me,” he said softly. “I have a proposition for you.” My heart raced. “What kind of proposition?” “Spend a month with me,” he said, his voice like velvet. “I will pay you ten million dollars for your time.” I stared at him, shocked. “Why would you offer me such a thing?” “Because I believe you are someone special,” he replied, his eyes never leaving mine. “And I think you might find that I am not what I seem.” Desperation and curiosity warred within me. The sum he offered was staggering, enough to secure my independence and perhaps even find answers about my mother. But what did he truly want from me? After a moment’s hesitation, I made my decision. “I accept, Zephyr.” His smile was both triumphant and mysterious. “Excellent. We leave tomorrow.” The following morning, Zephyr arranged for a car to take Charlotte and me to his mansion. The journey was surreal, a whirlwind of emotions and uncertainties. As we arrived at the grand estate, my breath caught at the sight of the sprawling grounds and the imposing mansion that loomed ahead. Zephyr greeted us at the entrance, his demeanor as composed as ever. “Welcome to my home, Alessandra.” I stepped out of the car, feeling a mixture of awe and trepidation. “It’s beautiful.” He led us inside, where the interior was even more magnificent than the exterior. The decor was a blend of modern elegance and timeless luxury, each room exuding a sense of opulence that made my royal upbringing seem modest in comparison. “You will stay here,” Zephyr said, showing us to a suite that was both lavish and comfortable. “Charlotte will have a room nearby.” “Thank you,” I said, feeling a pang of homesickness despite the grandeur around me. “That’s not all,” Zephyr continued, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. “During your stay, you will not just be a guest. You will be a part of my household staff.” I blinked in surprise. “A maid?” He nodded. “Yes, a maid. But a very special one. It will allow you to observe and learn.” Charlotte looked worried, but I placed a reassuring hand on her arm. “It’s alright, Charlotte. We can manage.” Zephyr’s mansion was immense, and as I began my duties, I quickly realized that it was unlike any household I had ever known. The staff was composed of beings that were anything but ordinary—werewolves, vampires, and witches, each with their own unique roles and abilities. One morning, as I ventured into the garden, I felt a sense of serenity wash over me. The estate’s gardens were vast and meticulously maintained, filled with exotic flora and the soothing sound of a nearby fountain. I wandered through the greenery, my thoughts a swirl of questions and uncertainties. As I stood beneath the dappled sunlight, a figure materialized before me, radiant and ethereal. Her form shimmered with an otherworldly glow, and I felt an inexplicable connection to her. “Who are you?” I asked, my voice filled with a mixture of awe and trepidation. The entity smiled, a benevolent warmth emanating from her. “I am Elysia, a guardian of ancient secrets.” I was captivated by her presence, her aura of wisdom and power. “What secrets do you guard?” Elysia’s eyes held a knowing twinkle. “The secrets of your own identity, Alessandra. You are more than what you know, more than a princess escaping her royal duties. You are a key, a bridge between worlds.” Her words sent shivers down my spine. I had always felt that there was more to my existence, and now, here in this garden, I was on the cusp of discovering the truth. Elysia extended her hand, and I hesitantly placed mine in hers. A surge of energy coursed through me, and visions flashed before my eyes—ancient prophecies, hidden realms, and a destiny that was intertwined with the supernatural. As the vision faded, Elysia spoke once more, her voice filled with purpose. “Alessandra, your journey has only just begun. Embrace your true self, for you are the Divine Princess, destined to play a pivotal role in the balance of power and love in this world.” With those cryptic words, Elysia vanished, leaving me standing in the garden, my mind swirling with newfound revelations.
