"Ahhhh... screamed Brady," as strong wind blew through the glass which prevented Jake and Eliza from getting close to Brady. Jake clung to the bed and moved forward towards Brady. Jake then pulled Brady to safety. Jake had no other way but to pull him out, which meant some broken glasses would tear Brady's stomach. Jake pulled him out as slowly as to prevent Brady's pain but, Brady was badly injured.
"Ahhhh...," screamed Brady as he was bleeding.
Eliza hugged poor Brady and took a look at his wounds. It was not as deep, but he would need stitches.
Jake rushed towards the door " I will call the doctor," he said.
"No, I will manage," replied Eliza.
"I don't think you can do stitches, he will need it," said Jake.
"I know how to do stitches because I am a nurse," replied Eliza adamantly.
"Ohh... I didn't know that," said Jake, who was surprised to hear, "Ok, I will stand outside, call me if you need anything,"
"Ok," replied Eliza..
Jake waited outside the room for a while as he stood on the first floor from where he could see Tom, who sat alone near the fireplace. Jake went down towards Tom and decided to check if he was doing ok.
"Hey, there," Said Tom.
"Is Brady ok?" asked a concerned Tom.
"Yes, don't worry Brady is fine, he just needs to rest for a while," replied Jake.
"So what happened to Brady ?"
"I don't know, we were playing and suddenly our ball went beneath the Almirah, Brady tried to take the ball out. Suddenly the window broke and Brady was dragged towards the window," answered Tom suddenly bursting out crying.
"Hey, it's ok, Brady is fine, Don't cry," consoled Jake.
Eliza cleaned Brady's wound "Don't worry baby, you are alright," consoled Eliza.
"I didn't do anything, Mamma," said Brady.
"shh... I know darling, take rest ok, we will talk about it later," said Eliza
Eliza came downstairs to see Jake consoling Tom.
"How's he?" asked Jake, concerned about the little boy.
"He's ok, will need some rest," replied Eliza.
As Tom saw Eliza walking towards them he ran to his mother as fast as he could and hugged her with all his strength taking Eliza by surprise.
"Baby don't worry he is fine," consoled Eliza.
"Ok," replied Tom.
Eliza laid Tom to rest on the sofa and placed a blanket for him and gave a gentle motherly kiss letting Tom take some rest.
Eliza and Jake walked towards the door and as they stood on the patio
"So, did you see what happened ?" questioned Jake.
"No, I was downstairs and moving around some things from the basement," replied Eliza.
"Basement?" asked Jake.
"Yes, I thought I heard some noise from beneath and I was following the noise which drove me to a door and I opened it up it went downstairs as I was about to enter I heard Brady crying," that's all I remember.
"Hmm.." Jake.
"What happened ?' asked Eliza.
"I don't know, it feels different in here," said Jake.
"It's an old mansion Jake, that's all there is nothing to be worried about," as Eliza brushed aside Jake's statement.
"I didn't know you were a nurse," said Jake as he changed the topic.
"I was good in studies, my father packed me to town to study medicine," replied Eliza "Useful for my son today,"
"Your father?" asked Jake curiously.
"He's no more, he lived here all his life till his death," replied Eliza "I think I told you before about my father?"
"Your Mom ?" asked Jake.
"My mom died when I was two, I was brought up by my father," said Eliza
"I'm sorry about your mother," said Jake.
"He was a servant in this mansion as I said before and he used to help Mr. Woods," replied Eliza.
"Mr. Woods?" asked Jake.
"Yes, he was the owner of the property, this mansion was build by his father, Woods had passed this mansion to my father's name before his death," Said Eliza." I didn't tell you before because I didn't want you to judge,"
"What do you mean?" asked Jake.
"Villagers here spread hatred all time, they said my father blackmailed Mr. Woods to get this mansion, and there was a curse of Mr. Woods here," said Eliza.
" Is there?" asked Jake with a smile.
"Shut up? I hope not," smiled Eliza.
Jake was slowly falling for Eliza.
"So why here Eliza, in a forest alone from the world with your two children?" asked Jake curiously.
"Well it's a long story Jake, maybe some other time," said Eliza.
"Ok, then take a rest, if you need anything please call me," said Jake, and "keep an eye on Tom also,"
"Why do you say that?" asked Eliza.
"Nothing, just be careful," said Jake in a casual tone. "And if possible when you go downstairs to the basement can I join you?" asked Jake with a smile.
"Why? Is there any investigation ? " asked Eliza blushing as she played with her hair showing signs that she was falling for Jake.
"I'm just curious," said Jake with a nervous smile.
