Chapter FourteenSophie was having a meltdown in the work toilets. Her breathing was ragged, her face was hot and her hands were shaking. I am having a panic attack, she thought, scooping cold water over her cheeks in a desperate attempt to calm herself. Outside the door came the sound of laughter. As it swung open, she ducked into a vacant cubicle, locking the door and leaning against it. Breathing deeply, she managed to compose herself, and her wobbly knees. She pulled tissue from the lopsided holder and dabbed at her dripping nose. This morning she had woken with a sore throat, itchy eyes and a pain in her stomach which had more to do with the impending gut-wrenching prospect of seeing her brother again than any bodily influenza.
