Jiang You deliberately irritated Yuan Taixian before she left. His face turned ashen as he kicked over a chair with a loud bang, drawing everyone's gaze. Yuan Taixian, already in a bad mood, glanced around with a sinister look in his eyes and barked, "What are you looking at!"
Everyone hastily averted their eyes, not daring to stare any longer.
The temple on the side of his head throbbed with anger, and his face was terribly contorted—his hair drenched in coffee and his clothes stained. He was about to storm off when a timid voice called out to him.
Turning around, Yuan Taixian saw a boy speaking cautiously, "Taixian, about the coffee..."
Stunned for a moment, he quickly realized what the boy meant and almost exploded with rage. Clenching his teeth, he raised his hand, ready to strike, and snarled, "Hey! What do you want?"
The iced Americano that Jiang You had spilled on him was originally his, and he hadn't finished it yet. It's not like he, a man, could ask Jiang You for compensation, and fortunately, Yuan Taixian hadn't left yet.
The boy instinctively dodged, and Yuan Taixian, who only meant to frighten him, held his hand in the air for a few seconds before forcefully reining in his anger and retorting, "Why don't you ask Jiang You for compensation!"
"I owe it to her, that vile woman!"
His brows were so furrowed they looked like they could trap a fly. He grudgingly bought the boy another iced Americano, shoved it into his hands with a dark expression, and sneered a warning, "Hold on to it tightly this time, drink it quickly, and be careful no one snatches it away to splash on someone else, as others might not have the same patience as me, got it?"
The boy forced a couple of awkward laughs and remained silent, cursing to himself, "You have a good temper? What nonsense are you talking about!"
Yuan Taixian left with suppressed rage in his every step. Once he was gone, the atmosphere in the convenience store lightened and life went back to normal.
He hurried out of the store, heading straight for the changing room, and called his lackey to bring a new uniform.
When the lackey arrived in the changing room with the bag, Yuan Taixian was undressing. He glowered and ordered coldly, "Block Jiang You for me after school. I must teach her a lesson today, that despicable woman!"
Hearing this, the lackey hesitated, countering, "Taixian, this doesn't seem right. After all, Jiang You is just a girl."
Yuan Taixian's face darkened instantly, and he hurled his dirty clothes at the lackey's face as he scoffed, "What? Are you fond of her and can't bear to do it?"
The lackey, his face whipped by the clothes, silently hung his head. Jiang You was beautiful and had a great figure; who wouldn't like her? But he could only mutter these thoughts internally. Aloud, he offered a weak explanation, "No, it's just that... we're men, and going after a girl can look bad."
Yuan Taixian let out a cold laugh, probing slowly, "You think I'm going to hit her?"
Anger trembled through his hands.
The lackey softly asked back, "Isn't that the case? You said you were going to teach her a lesson?"
Yuan Taixian couldn't bother to explain further. Fine, let them all be the good guys, defending Jiang You whether she's right or wrong, and just him the villain!
He growled, "Yes, that's exactly what I'm going to do. Block her after school! You hear me?"
With a troubled face, the lackey eventually agreed with a forced nod, "Alright, I got it, Taixian."
Yuan Taixian gave him another icy glance, "Put down the clothes and get out!"
After the lackey placed the shopping bag containing the new uniform and shoes, he hurriedly left. Yuan Taixian didn't rush to shower; instead, he leaned against the locker, closed his eyes, and massaged his temples.
The rage gave him a headache!
Within the gates of Mingde, all transactions could only be settled using points, including the cafeteria.
Quan Jing was very disciplined, insisting on high-quality food—organic vegetables, proteins, and healthy carbs. Jiang You was the opposite; indulging without restraint, she loved sweets and fried foods.
The two finished choosing their food, sitting face to face with starkly different plates.
Quan Jing's food looked nutritious and green, while Jiang You's tray was laden with cheese cake, fried pork cutlet, french fries, sweet and sour pork, spicy rice cake, and a seaweed rice ball—all high in oil, salt, and calories.
Quan Jing frowned slightly, his handsome face exuding disapproval, "Jiang You, this kind of diet isn't good."
"You indulge in sweets and fried food without exercising; this will strain your body over time, leading to weight gain and deteriorating skin."
Jiang You playfully brought her soft, fair cheek close, "Do you feel my skin getting worse?"
Quan Jing glanced at her coolly, and she reluctantly sat back, huffing, "I've always eaten like this, and I'm in great shape, with incredibly smooth skin. It's all thanks to my natural beauty, so no need to worry."
Her self-admiration was a sight to behold—vivacious and pretty. Quan Jing had to suppress the uptick of his lips as he repeated in a calm tone, "Natural beauty?"
Jiang You hummed an affirmative, "Right. Jealous?"
Leaning in closer, she teased in a sweet whisper, "Quan Jing, don't be jealous. In the future, we can have a daughter and pass this beauty to her, okay?"
Her voice, especially in a whisper, seemed to seep from his ears directly into his heart, itchy and unsettled.
Quan Jing was unaware his ears were flushing, and he coolly responded, "Eat up, and stop talking nonsense. 'One must not speak while eating nor talk in bed.'"
Jiang You glared adorably and retorted, "Then you better not speak, or you'll be a dog!"
With that, she ignored him and concentrated on her meal.
Quan Jing was left speechless, unable to retort—that would confirm her tease. He couldn't understand why he was taking her casual words so seriously.
Jiang You appeared to relish her unhealthy food, her cheeks glowing with youthful suppleness. She had snow-white, translucent skin with abundant collagen, even her pores invisible to the eye, and a touch seemed enough to draw out water.
Her figure spoke for itself; petite framed, tender white skin with curves in all the right places—a slender waist and fullness elsewhere.
Quan Jing's eyebrows lifted slightly at the thought that perhaps there was truth to the idea of a natural beauty, immune to weight gain despite any diet, a porcelain fair skin that never darkened in the sun, eyes that never swelled no matter how much she cried, stunningly beautiful.
Her flirtatious words echoed by his side, burrowing deeper into his heart: "Quan Jing, don't be jealous. In the future, we can have a daughter..."
Eyes deepening, Quan Jing fixated on Jiang You, his handsome face fluctuating between frustration and relaxation. He couldn't pinpoint his feelings toward her. She knew how to test him, tiptoeing over his boundaries with her stubbornness, only to turn docile and quiet when he was on the brink of anger.
His current coldness seemed to amuse her, as she found ways to cling onto him and burst into tears over any small inconvenience, forcing him to yield. If he showed her even the slightest kindness, would her arrogance know no bounds?
Growing impatient with her lack of attention, where she would once cling on after being shrugged off five times, now she let go after three, seeking only one kiss before engaging happily with other boys, laughing vibrantly. Even her frequency of quietly calling him crazy had increased.
Perhaps she now believed she had him wrapped around her finger and no longer cared for his affection!
The unsettled feeling in Quan Jing's heart intensified as he gazed at Jiang You's innocently beautiful face, his ire rising.
She couldn't always be this inattentive to him. When their relationship first began, she unexpectedly attended his elective class despite it not being on her schedule, positioning herself next to him with a bright smile, yet never actually paying attention to the lecture. Instead, she gazed at him, the affection in her eyes almost overwhelming, her audacity fiery.
Quan Jing grew self-conscious under her gaze, warning her with a low voice, "Stop staring at me, focus on your book."
Without a word, Jiang You scribbled a note and slid it toward him.
When he read the words, "You're much more appealing than the book," he felt both shamed and annoyed, restraining his urge to reprimand.
Her innocent smile made further resistance futile.
Class ended, and Quan Jing left swiftly, but Jiang You followed, her voice sweet yet spoiled, "What car did you drive today? The same as last time?"
That 'last time' referenced the car she cried in during a rainy day, claiming it wasn't expensive enough.
The memory of his feverish night ignited Quan Jing's anger, "Yes, why? You want a ride home?"
Her frowned and refused in a whimpering tone, showing her continued disdain for his less luxurious car.
Quan Jing laughed bitterly and walked away, only for her to catch up again, coaxing him with a sweet smile, "I'll ride with you. Don't be mad."
Her willingness to concede only aggravated him further. It wasn't just about that rainy night or the fever that plagued him, but the fact that he actually switched to a luxurious car after her cutting remark.
As the heir to TK Communications, many had mocked Quan Jing for his unassuming vehicles, but he never cared, brushing it off with a polite, distant smile. Yet, Jiang You's spoiled comment struck a chord.
Snapping back to reality, Quan Jing's discomfort with Jiang You's absence of affection became clearer. Once, she was smitten with him, but now she neglected him without a second thought!
